Poker legend Alex Foxen emerged victorious from a field of 70 players in the #7:$10,000 No-Limit Hold'em event, adding another title to his long list of accolades. Foxen defeated Jeremy Ausmus heads-up to claim his 13th PGT title and the $210,000 first-place prize, while Ausmus finished as runner-up for the third time in this series.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h4>

Foxen's victory comes just three days after his wife, Kristen Foxen, defeated Ausmus heads-up in Event #5 to win her fifth PGT title. For this poker power couple, their performance so far in this series has been nothing short of spectacular.<\/span><\/p>

Champion's Speech<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>

This victory puts Foxen on par with Sam Soverel as the player with the most PGT titles in history (13). Even before this event, Foxen already held the top spot on the PokerGO Circuit's all-time money list and was the player with the most total winnings. He spoke about how he continues to thrive in such an elite environment, facing what are arguably the best competitors.<\/span><\/p>

"What I mean is, these tournaments are really tough. I think it's largely about who can show their 'A-level game' most often. At this level, the gap between players is relatively small, but I think there's often a significant gap between a person's 'best' and 'worst'. So I focus a lot on things that help close the gap between my best and worst and do my best to show my A-level game."<\/span><\/p>

When asked how he consistently delivers A-level gameplay, Foxen said, "I have a regular health and fitness routine. But more importantly, I have a mindset of seeking and enjoying challenges. I think that's very helpful."<\/span><\/p>

Foxen continued, "You can think of losing a bunch of all-ins in a row as 'poor me,' or you can think of it as 'Wow, it's so cool to win this game after losing so many all-ins!' You can reinterpret things in a more positive and easier-to-cope way. I try to do this in everything in life, and it works really well in poker."<\/span><\/p>

Final Day Results<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>

Foxen started the day with approximately 55% in chips, while Ausmus was significantly in second place. Qinghai Pan, Aram Zobian, and Michael Berk all started with very short stacks, and Berk became the first player eliminated that day\u2014Zobian hit a King with KJ on the river, defeating Berk's AQ.<\/span><\/p>

Although Zobian seemed poised to turn the tide after eliminating Berk, Pan successfully doubled up Zobian with pocket Jacks, ending his momentum and leaving Zobian with very few chips. Zobian then lost his remaining three big blinds to Foxen, creating a three-way battle between Foxen, Ausmus, and Pan.<\/span><\/p>

Foxen, holding approximately two-thirds of the total chips, exerted relentless pressure throughout the three-way battle, repeatedly going all-in pre-flop and steadily widening his lead with minimal showdowns. Pan survived by successfully doubling up twice in a row, and Ausmus also doubled up against Foxen's KK. However, these three double-ups had little impact on Foxen's chip stack, and he continued his almost reckless pre-flop all-in runs. Pan again faced off against Foxen's 7-6 of different suits with AQ, but Foxen's dominance continued\u2014the turn 6 sealed Pan's fate.<\/span><\/p>

At the start of heads-up play, Foxen held a slightly larger chip lead of 4:1 against Ausmus. In the first head-to-head hand, Ausmus limped in with 8-5, and Foxen checked with 7-3 suited. The flop gave Foxen bottom pair, which Ausmus completely missed. Ausmus launched a triple barrel bluff, but Foxen called after hitting his 7 on the river, winning the final hand of the tournament.<\/span><\/p>
