The Frenchman beat out 432 players to take home \u00a3102,880, marking his sixth career six-figure live tournament win.<\/figcaption><\/figure><h4 class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>Frenchman Cedric Schwaederle won the \u00a31,250 Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) London Main Event, earning his sixth career six-figure live tournament prize. Schwaederle emerged victorious from a field of 432 players, taking home \u00a3102,880 from a total prize pool of \u00a3450,180.<\/strong><\/span><\/h4><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Schwaederle has had an impressive run at the live poker tables over the past 12 months. In July 2025, he won the $5,300 No-Limit Hold&#039;em High Roller event in Cyprus, securing his career-best $310,000 prize. That October, he triumphed again, this time in the \u20ac2,200 European Poker Tour (EPT) Malta Deepstack event, winning \u20ac99,400.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Since those victories, Schwaederle has made deep runs in several live events, most recently finishing 10th in the $2,200 EAPT Cyprus Main Event in March for a prize of $13,400.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">After the French player won the title, social media was flooded with congratulatory messages, including some joking comments mentioning that he had &quot;gotten the badge in&quot;\u2014a meme-like craze that has taken hold in the UK around the Stone Island fashion brand.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The top 56 players shared a total prize pool of \u00a3450,180. Dale Wilson, Joe Hindry, Conor O&#039;Driscoll, and Matthew Davenport were among those who made it into the money. Timothy Chung, Arthur Conan, and Trevor Reardon also won prizes.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Grosvenor ambassador Katie Swift delivered another outstanding performance. Wong went all-in with his remaining chips, AQ, against Jiaze Li&#039;s pocket Kings. The Ace on the flop seemed to lock in a much-needed double-up for Wong, especially since another player had folded a King. However, the final King appeared on the turn, and the river didn&#039;t help Wong, resulting in his elimination.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Li won again, but this time it wasn&#039;t very dramatic. Antoine Labat went all-in with K5 of diamonds and only 6 big blinds left, facing Li&#039;s pocket nines. Li hit trips on the flop and made a full house on the turn, eliminating another player.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Tsz To took seventh place and the first five-figure prize of the night. He went all-in on the turn with a straight and a flush draw. Unfortunately, Schwaederle held the nut straight, a lead he maintained until the end, eliminating To.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">When the anonymous player who competed under the code name &quot;CK&quot; was unfortunately eliminated, the final six became five.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Li&#039;s hopes were dashed in his match against Longmao Fan, finishing in fifth place. Li poured his final 17 big blinds into the pot with K10 hearts, but Fan held dominating AK spades. Fan hit an Ace on the flop, but Li still had a gutshot straight draw. The turn and river failed to change the situation, ending Li&#039;s run.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Spanish player Ignacio Amelung won a career-best prize of \u00a329,220. According to The Hendon Mob database, Amelung&#039;s live tournament winnings are $5,908, and his last recorded achievement was in March 2017. His final move was a call all-in with top pair on the river, only to be met with Tobias Kirby-Hogarty revealing trips.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The GUKPT London Main Event went heads-up after Fan made a poorly timed move in a hand against Kirby-Hogarty. Fan went all-in with Queen-high on a two-pair board, only to be called by Kirby-Hogarty with a full house. Fan had finished as runner-up in this event three years ago.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">At the start of heads-up play, Kirby-Hogarty held a significant chip lead, but Schwaederle fought back to tie, only to fall behind again. A crucial hand at the 40,000\/80,000 blind level completely turned the tide of the game.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Kirby-Hogarty limped in with pocket nines in the small blind, Schwaederle raised with pocket kings, and then instantly called when Kirby-Hogarty went all-in with the equivalent of 45 big blinds. The pocket kings held, and the scales tipped completely in Schwaederle&#039;s favor.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Almost immediately after this clash of titans, another crucial hand followed. Schwaederle min-raised with pocket eights, Kirby-Hogarty went all-in with AJ clubs for about 16 big blinds in a three-bet, and Schwaederle called. A board of high nines failed to melt the Frenchman&#039;s &quot;snowflake,&quot; and Schwaederle became the 2026 GUKPT London Main Event champion.<\/span><\/p><h4 class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>GUKPT will move to Luton on May 14th.<\/strong><\/span><\/h4><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The GUKPT&#039;s next stop in 2026 will be Luton, the fourth event of the Tour&#039;s 20th season. The GUKPT visited Luton twice last year, in May and August.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Calogero Morreale won the main event in May, turning his \u00a31,250 into \u00a356,720 by defeating 283 opponents.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Popular poker player Keith Johnson won the GUKPT Luton Main Event in August, taking home \u00a356,890.
