In the first series of the year, WPT Global Ambassador Angel Guillen secured his first victory, and he will now have to make room in the nursery for the gleaming new Aussie Millions trophy.<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>

Guillen and WPT presenter Lynn Gilmartin's second son is expected to be born this September. Gilmartin watched her husband's victory live.<\/span><\/p>

This\u00a0The 3,000 Super Turbo Bounty Tournament had 167 participants, and Guillen took home \u2217\u2217<\/span>3<\/span>,<\/span>000<\/span>super<\/span>T<\/span>u<\/span>r<\/span>b<\/span>o<\/span>The bounty tournament has a total of<\/span>167<\/span>100 contestants participated.<\/span>G<\/span>u<\/span>i<\/span>ll<\/span>e<\/span>n<\/span>Taken away<\/span>\u2217<\/span><\/span>\u2217<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>The champion's prize was AU$71,690. He defeated Honglin Jiang in heads-up play, giving Jiang his second runner-up finish in two days \u2013 just yesterday he and his wife Sosia finished second in the team competition.<\/span><\/p>

Guillen joined another WPT global ambassador, Diego Ponce, in winning a peripheral event at the Aussie Millions.<\/span><\/p>

Guillen talks about "finding good luck".<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>

The Super Turbo Bounty tournament final table was played with an average chip stack of less than 20 big blinds, and Guillen maintained a chip lead for most of the time. He stated that his playing style is well-suited to this fast-paced tournament.<\/span><\/p>

"In any tournament, you need a lot of luck, especially to win," he told PokerNews. "Whether it's a 2-hour level or a 15-minute level, you need luck. You also have to constantly make decisions and hope for the best outcome."

"You don't always have to make the right decisions, but you must go with the flow."<\/span><\/p>

In the final hand, Guillen held 9\u26632\u2665 against Honglin Jiang's strong K\u2665K\u2666. Guillen hit a 9 on the flop with 10\u266010\u26669\u2660 and miraculously hit a two-card live hand (9) on the turn with 9\u2665, securing the win. The river A\u2665 was an invalid card. Guillen stated that luck always plays a significant role.<\/span><\/p>

"If you go with the flow, you keep going, and luckily, I kept going. The last hand is a good example of how lucky I was. It's a combination of enjoying the game and finding good luck."<\/span><\/p>

This momentum has led Guillen to three wins in his last six tournaments that have reached the money, including two victories at the WPT Australia six months ago. This year's Aussie Millions is his first poker series of the year, and he says it's a stark contrast to his days as a professional poker player.<\/span><\/p>

"I think the most important thing is that I'm much more relaxed than when I made a living playing cards. (Back then) there was a bit of financial pressure involved. Now I treat it as a hobby, and I really enjoy it. So I'm dedicated to fighting for victory."<\/span><\/p>

Combined with the fast-paced bounty tournament structure and Guillen's modern poker tournament style, it's a perfect match.<\/span><\/p>

"I'm willing to sacrifice some expected value (EV) just because I believe it's correct at the time. These days I trust my intuition more. In the past, I just followed the math, the formulas, and the EV. That was fine\u2014I mean, when you're playing a lot of games, that's a winning strategy."<\/span><\/p>

"But the truth is, I probably only play 30 tournaments a year, which isn't many. So, I just focus on having fun and believe in myself in the moment."<\/span><\/p>

A man who loves his family<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>

While many poker players around the world will be heading to Las Vegas at the end of this month, Guillen's attention is firmly set on something else\u2014he's awaiting the birth of his second child with WPT presenter Lynn Gilmartin. Guillen calls his family the "pillar" of all his decisions.<\/span><\/p>

\u201cNo matter what I\u2019m doing, my family is always on my mind,\u201d Guillen said. \u201cWhether I\u2019m playing poker or working\u2014family comes first to me. I wouldn\u2019t be enjoying all of this as much as I am now without my beautiful family waiting for me at home.\u201d<\/span><\/p>

The trophy is in the cabinet\u2014an early gift for the baby\u2014but now, he has to return to his primary task as a father.<\/span><\/p>

"I don't think I'll be playing any more series for the next few months. Our second boy is due in September. So I'll focus on that, only playing in some tournaments I can when I have time, and continuing to enjoy it."<\/span><\/p>
