A controversial high-stakes poker player known for his appearances on Hustler Casino Live has been arrested for allegedly cashing bad checks at a well-known Las Vegas casino.
According to a report by the Las Vegas Review-Journal on Tuesday, Ye Shen, a Chinese national known as "Tony Mars," has been charged in Nevada with one count of "issuing an underpaid check" and one count of "stealing $100,000 or more" for allegedly issuing two bad checks totaling $300,000 at the Wynn Las Vegas hotel.
According to the Daily Review, Shen was charged in March and detained at Clark County Detention Centre on May 14. He has since been released.
Controversial past
Shen has participated in high-stakes poker livestreams like HCL, but his presence has not been without controversy. Regulars on the show, including Nik Airball and Wesley Fei, have accused the Chinese high-stakes player of cheating in off-air private games.
In December 2023, PokerNews obtained and released a recorded phone conversation between Fei and Shen. In the recording, Fei accused Le of cheating in a private poker game in Southern California, winning over $3 million. Shen subsequently issued a statement to PokerNews denying the allegations and questioning Fei's character.
Shen had hinted during the call that he would return to China, but he appears to have ended up in Las Vegas and gotten himself into trouble.
According to a criminal complaint reviewed by The Comment, the checks that Shen allegedly cashed were opened in December 2024.
It remains unclear whether the check incident at the Wynn Hotel (which boasts one of Las Vegas's premier poker rooms) is related to poker or some other form of gambling.
