Sparrow Cheung 🇭🇰

Sparrow Cheung was born in Hong Kong and has spent the last decade becoming the face of the region’s poker community. He began his professional journey during the poker expansion in Asia and quickly transitioned from a casual player to a high volume grinder. His nickname “Sparrow” has become synonymous with the “never give up” attitude he brings to every tournament he enters. Beyond his results at the table, Sparrow has dedicated much of his life to growing the sport. As a co-founder and chairman of the Hong Kong Poker Players Association (HKPPA), he has worked tirelessly to promote poker as a game of skill across Asia. He is also a prominent member of Team Hot for Natural8, where he represents the Asian poker community on a global scale. His reputation for being a friendly and professional ambassador has earned him the respect of players from all over the world.

Cheung is known for a high volume and highly adaptable style of play. Because he plays so many tournaments, he has developed a unique ability to read different types of players and adjust his strategy on the fly. He is a master of the “grind,” showing incredible mental stamina during long series where he often plays multiple events in a single day. His strategy relies on calculated aggression and extreme consistency. He is not afraid to get involved in many pots, using his vast experience to outmaneuver opponents in post flop play. While he is a specialist in No Limit Hold’em, his record shows he is comfortable in many different formats and buy in levels. This flexibility is what allowed him to set the world record for cashes, as he is equally dangerous in a small local tournament as he is in a massive international main event.

According to The Hendon Mob, Sparrow Cheung has total live earnings of over $3.2 million. He is most famous for his historic 2017 season, where he recorded a staggering 68 live cashes in a single calendar year, breaking the previous world record.
