The most famous poker family in Australia – Joe Hachem, brothers Tony and son James – have all advanced to Day 3 of the 2026 Aussie Millions Main Event, showcasing their amazing family poker prowess.
Two people together, three people together. But for the Hachem family, it was just a family gathering.
Three members of Australia’s most famous poker family have made it to Day 3 of the 2026 Aussie Millions Main Event: 2005 WSOP Main Event champion Joe Hachem, his brother Tony, and Joe’s son James.

Although Joe's other son, Daniel (2024 WSOP runner-up), is currently not in the country, his other son, Anthony, is also involved in the 2026 Aussie Millions event, making the Hachem family's momentum at Crown Casino in Melbourne quite strong.
"It feels special to have all of us gathered here to play cards together," Joe told PokerNews.
"Daniel is currently in Los Angeles and unfortunately missed the Aussie Millions. Anthony is currently playing in the $2,500 tournament. It feels special to have all of us here playing cards together."
"The overall plan for the main event is that if one Hachem fails, another Hachem will take its place!"
For James, the pressure of the main event is compounded by his seating arrangement; he is currently battling it out at the table next to his father's.

“He was sitting right behind me,” James said. “I was a little nervous because I knew he would come over and pat me on the shoulder if I made the wrong decision.”
Nevertheless, both of them made it into the money, while Tony unfortunately failed to advance. James said that although he only plays in tournaments every few years, it was "very, very cool" to play cards with his father and uncle.
"I think it's been an amazing journey for my dad since he won the WSOP. He's been consistently showing up at poker tournaments, and it's really cool to play at the table next to him."
Participating in the "massive" 2026 Aussie Millions
Tony Hachem, a veteran of the poker world himself, quickly praised his brother's enduring influence on the sport. "No one is more suitable to be an ambassador than my brother. I can't praise Joe enough," Tony said.
"No one is more suitable to be an ambassador than my brother."
Beyond family ties, Tony also highlighted the explosive growth of the Australian Poker Tour. As a key figure in the 2026 season of the Australian Poker Tour (APT) in partnership with Aussie Millions, he has witnessed firsthand the evolution of this community.
"This tour has been fantastic, and partnering with Aussie Millions in 2026 is a natural fit for us. The poker scene in Australia has grown tremendously since the COVID pandemic. Live tournament poker is now incredibly large," Tony explained.
"The Australian poker community fully supports Aussie Millions. I mean, we love it—it's huge. Congratulations to everyone at Crown for supporting Harold, Daniel, and their team."
