Maurice Hawkins continued his winning streak at the poker table, winning his 25th World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) gold ring and pushing his own record even further.
This controversial figure in the poker world won the #9: 1,100 No-Limit Hold'em event in Harlas Cherokee, taking home $113,233. He defeated a field of 631 players in North Carolina, with a final table packed with top players.
Pushing the record even higher
In recent weeks, Hawkins made headlines after PokerNews reported that he had filed for bankruptcy in Florida. He subsequently appeared on the PokerNews Podcast to recount his story and engaged in a heated discussion with co-host Mike Holtz, who accused the WSOPC tycoon of trying to "get away with these debts."
Debt controversies aside, Hawkins can be considered the Phil Hellmuth of the WSOP circuit. He defeated James Calderaro in heads-up play to win his 25th gold ring. He was already a record holder, and now he has left his rivals far behind. Ari Engel and Daniel Lowery are tied for second with 20 gold rings each, a significant gap between them.

Calderaro, who finished second and took home $75,400, is also a WSOP bracelet winner, and according to The HendonMob, his live tournament winnings exceed $6.5 million. Jarod Minghini, who finished eighth and took home $10,770, has five tour rings and $2.4 million in live tournament winnings.
Hawkins successfully defeated these highly skilled professionals. His career prize money surpasses $7 million after winning the Tour title in Harascherokyi. He won his first Tour gold ring in 2008 and has added three more this year.
The WSOP Circuit Series in Harascherocchi, comprising 18 ring events, will conclude on Monday with the $1,700 buy-in Main Event. Following this, the WSOP focus will shift to Las Vegas for the Summer Series, featuring 100 bracelet events.
