2026 WSOP Day 24 Recap: Shaun Deeb takes a huge lead on Day 2 of the $3,000 Nine Mixed Event, Eelis Parssinen leads the $25,000 PLO final table, and Marco Johnson wins the $2,500 Freeze Event.
With the weekend fast approaching, the 2026 WSOP continues in Paris and Horseshoe Las Vegas.
A champion was crowned that day – Marco Johnson defeated Chino Rheem in heads-up play at $2,500 Freeze, preventing Rheem from winning his first gold bracelet and a triple crown. However, with three champions set to be crowned on Friday, this day could be considered a "moving day" for the tournaments.
Deeb leads among the 21 survivors in the nine-mixed race.
On the second day of the #52:$3,000 nine-mix event, 164 players who emerged from a starting field of 472 returned to Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas to continue their battle. After a full day of intense mixed events, Shaun Deeb became the chip leader with 3,500,000 chips—more than double the chips of the second-place player.
Since his impressive run at the 2026 WSOP Europe (two runner-up finishes and one ninth-place finish), the eight-time bracelet winner has been on a slight slump, managing only one prize win in this series so far. However, Deeb now has the opportunity to reclaim the top spot on the Player of the Year leaderboard with a top-three finish.
Currently in second place with 1,742,000 chips is David Williams, the 2004 Main Event runner-up. This deep run marks Williams' first prize money in this series, and he hopes to add another gold bracelet to his resume.
Tournament #52: $3,000 Top 10 Chips on Day 2 of the Nine-Choice Mixed Event
Parssinen aims for his second gold bracelet at the $25,000 PLO final table.

The final table proceeded at a slow pace for most of the night, but Eelis Parssinen ultimately made the biggest splash and took the lead in Event #47:$25,000 High Roller Pot-Limit Omaha.
Parssinen and Alex Foxen clashed in the biggest pot of the day, both pushing all their chips into center pre-flop. Both showed two ace-cards, but Parssinen hit a trip of 7s on the flop and made the nut flush on the turn, doubling up and gaining an overwhelming chip lead. He continued his climb from there and will face the remaining five players with a commanding advantage when play resumes at 2 p.m. local time tomorrow, aiming for his second WSOP bracelet.
Event #47: $25,000 High Roller PLO Day 3 End Chip Count
Sverko advanced to the final table of the $10k Mystery Bounty Tournament after winning the $250,000 prize.

Of the 84 players who started on the second day of the #51:$10,000 Mystery Bounty event, only nine will return on Friday for the final day.
Alex Anton and Josh Reichard are the two players who have broken the six million chip mark. Despite having fewer chips, Gregor Sverko will enter the final day with confidence – having won the $250,000 bounty earlier that day.
All players have secured the $50,310 prize, while the champion will receive the $678,300 jackpot plus a bonus.

Last year, the competition attracted 207 participants, but there is still time to catch up – registration will remain open until 2:15 pm tomorrow when Level 12 begins.
After today's tournament, Jason Daly leads with 460,000 chips, having built this astonishing number from a starting stack of 60,000, more than three times the average chip count.
Also advancing is seven-time WSOP bracelet winner Scott Seiver, currently ranked sixth in chips. Maksim Pisarenko is the only player in the top six who has not yet won at least two bracelets.

At the top of the leaderboard is Canada's Homan Mohammadi, ahead of Scott Ruegsegger, who started the day with fourth-place chips and steadily accumulated chips throughout the tournament.
Several veteran contenders remain in the competition, including four-time bracelet winner Farzad Bonyadi and bracelet winner Fred Goldberg.

According to the WSOP LIVE app, he is the only player to have over 1,000,000 chips, ahead of Jon Shoreman.

He packed up 2,700,000 chips, almost double that of the second-place Natural 8 ambassador, Thai Ha.
