Float betting
Poker Strategy / Tutorials, Texas Hold'em Terminology DictionaryFloat is a strategy where a player calls on a Continuation Bet (C-Bet) on the flop, even if they don't have a strong hand, intending to use their positional advantage to pressure the opponent on later streets (usually the Turn or River). The core of Float isn't to win the pot immediately, but to capitalize on the opponent's slower pace later in the game, creating higher long-term EV through Probe Bet, Delayed Bluff, or Value Bet.
This article will provide a complete introduction to the definition of Float, its applicable times, advantages and disadvantages, GTO and Exploit applications, and how professional gamers use Float to improve long-term EV.
