2026 CPG Sanya Grand Finals | Main Event Day 3: Only 52 players remain, Yang Junyu leads with 6.126 million chips.

On August 26th, the 2026 CPG Sanya Grand Finals Main Event entered its third round of competition. After the first two rounds of large-scale elimination, 289 players who had already entered the money bubble returned to the tables to compete for a place in the final table and the deeper stages of the Main Event.

After a full day of intense competition, the field was drastically reduced again, with only 52 players surviving. Yang Junyu accumulated a large number of chips in the third round, temporarily taking the lead with 6,126,000 chips and advancing to the next round as the chip leader.

From 3,972 entries to the final 52, the main event enters the decisive stage.

The first round of the CPG Sanya Grand Finals attracted 3,972 participants. After being divided into three groups (A, B, and C), 1,374 people advanced to the second round.

The second round was the crucial battle for the prize pool, with 468 players ultimately securing a spot in the prize pool and 289 advancing to the third round.

With the third round concluded, only 52 players remain in the main event, meaning that more than 98% of the first-round participants have been eliminated from the title race, and the tournament has officially entered its final stage.

Changes in the number of players advancing in the main event

Yang Junyu tops the leaderboard with 6.126 million chips.

The biggest focus in the third round came from Yang Junyu.

As the competition progressed and the scoreboards accumulated faster, Yang Junyu successfully established a lead and eventually sealed the bag with 6,126,000 chips, ranking first among the 52 players who advanced.

Compared to the second round's chip leader who only had a chip stack of just over a million, after accumulating chips through multiple levels in the third round, the leading group has now entered the multi-million chip stack stage. Yang Junyu's achievement of over 6 million chips puts him in a favorable position for the next round's push for the final table.

52 players survived; the next goal is the final table.

From 289 players to only 52, the elimination rate in the third round was quite rapid. As short-stakes players continued to face pressure from the big blind, the average chipset on the field steadily increased, and every subsequent large pot could directly alter the rankings of the leading groups.

The list of players advancing from the third round, as shown in the image, indicates that 52 players have completed the sealing process, and the next stage will involve re-arranging tables for the fourth round of competition.

For the remaining players, the goal has shifted from "making it into the money" to "making it to the final table." With only 52 players left, every player is now very close to the final stage of the Main Event.

2026 CPG Sanya Main Event Core Data

The fourth round will be the final crucial battle before the final table.

The main event of the 2026 CPG Sanya Grand Finals has been reduced from a massive lineup of nearly 4,000 participants to 52.

The upcoming fourth round will further determine the competitive landscape of the main event's final stage. Whether Yang Junyu can maintain his lead of 6.126 million chips to continue controlling the pace of the game, and whether players currently in the middle and lower ranks can catch up through crucial pots, will be the main points of interest on the next day of competition.

As the final table spots draw ever closer, the real battle for the Main Event title has officially entered its final sprint.
