Originally from Taiwan and currently residing there, Chao Ting Cheng was introduced to poker in 2009 and transitioned to the professional ranks in 2013. A respected member of the Chinese Taipei National Team, he initially honed his skills in local Taiwanese events and small field side tournaments before ascending to the high stakes circuit. While he is a staple of the Asian Poker Tour (APT) and WPT Prime, his success on the global stage has made him one of the top-ranked players in his home country, reaching a career-high Global Poker Index (GPI) ranking of 897th in the world.

Chao Ting Cheng is known for a relentless and high-pressure tournament strategy, often described as having an elite ability to navigate massive fields and high-pressure final tables. During his APPT Cambodia victory, he demonstrated tactical dominance by winning a heads-up battle with quads to seal the championship. His approach combines a disciplined understanding of stack management with the aggression required to thrive in “Turbo” and “Mystery Bounty” formats, a skill evidenced by his 2024 score, where he pulled a lucky top bounty of $47,400 at APT Taipei. His tactical versatility across both No Limit Hold’em and specialized formats like Super Hold’em has made him a formidable opponent across the entire Asian circuit.

With over $938,000 in total live earnings, Chao Ting Cheng currently ranks 22nd on the Taiwan All Time Money List. According to The Hendon Mob, his career best live cash of $252,142 was achieved in August 2023 at WPT Korea, where he finished 3rd in the High Roller event. The year 2023 served as a historic breakout for Chao Ting Cheng, during which he captured his first major championship title at the APPT Cambodia Main Event. Outlasting a field of 476 entries, he secured the PokerStars shard trophy and a top prize of $94,448. According to The Hendon Mob, he has maintained exceptional momentum through 2024 and 2025, yielding a substantial increase in his poker net worth through high volume scoring across Taiwan, South Korea, and Cambodia. His recent good records include a string of deep runs in late 2025. Cheng finished 3rd in the Korea Poker Cup Jeju Cup for $26,243 in June 2025 and recorded a 15th place finish in the APT Jeju Main Event for $22,730 in October 2025.
