Johannes Straver hails from the Netherlands. Like many successful Dutch professional poker players, he started with low-stakes games before gradually progressing to higher stakes. He began tracking his live tournament results around 2017, primarily competing in local Dutch tournaments. Over the years, he has evolved from a local player into a global traveler, following major poker circuits around the world. His steadily improving skills demonstrate the hard work and gradual accumulation of funds that ultimately allowed him to compete at the highest levels of the world.

Straver is often described as a highly disciplined and meticulous poker player. According to Hendon Mob, Johannes Straver has won over $4 million in live tournament winnings. His biggest prize to date came at the WSOP World Series of Poker on Paradise Island in early 2024. He finished third in the GGMillion $ tournament, winning a whopping $807,430. Straver has consistently performed well in high-stakes tournaments. In 2022, he finished second in the WSOP Freezeout tournament, earning $411,279. He has also achieved numerous successes in the European Poker Tour (EPT) and the Amsterdam Poker Masters, demonstrating his ability to win both domestically and internationally.
