Robert Cowen 🇬🇧

Robert Cowen hails from Swansea, Wales, but has spent much of his professional life based in Alcester, England. He first fell in love with poker while watching the World Series of Poker on ESPN as a teenager and spent the next 15 years working to reach that same level. Before becoming a tournament star, he was primarily known as a Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO) cash game specialist. This background in deep-stacked cash games gave him a technical advantage when he transitioned to the high-roller tournament circuit. His breakthrough came in 2021 when he followed up a deep 39th-place finish in the WSOP Main Event with his first bracelet victory just a few days later.

Cowen is widely respected for his fearless approach and his deep understanding of Pot-Limit Omaha. Unlike many players who feel the pressure of playing for millions of dollars, he often says that the high stakes don't phase him at all because he views the game as “just PLO”. He is known for having a “rowdy rail” of British supporters who cheer him on during final tables, but he remains calm and focused in the middle of the action. His strategy relies on being aggressive and knowing exactly when to gamble, especially in high-roller events where he believes you have to be willing to take risks to win. This mental toughness has allowed him to beat some of the biggest names in the world on the largest stages in poker.

With total live tournament earnings of over $6.3 million (according to The Hendon Mob), Cowen is a consistent winner at the highest levels of the game. His biggest career payday came in 2022 at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, where he won the $50,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller for a massive $1,393,816. Cowen's success spans across different formats and continents. In 2021, he won his first WSOP bracelet in the $3,000 6-Handed Pot-Limit Omaha event for $280,916. He also proved his skill in No-Limit Hold'em by winning the €10,300 High Roller at EPT Prague in 2022 for $518,197. More recently in In 2025, he continued his high-stakes run by finishing 4th in the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series Jeju $100,000 PLO Main Event for $1,037,000.
