Tom Fox is one of many German poker players who choose to live and train in Vienna, Austria. Although he won some small tournaments as early as 2011, he then largely withdrew from live poker. During this time, he focused on improving his skills online, eventually returning to the scene in the 2020 WSOP Online Series. His comeback has been steady. In 2021, he started with low- to mid-stakes live events before tackling higher buy-ins. He is a core member of the Pokercode community and the Vienna Crew, a team of high-caliber professionals including Fedor Holz. Fox often attributes his confidence in participating in $50,000 and $100,000 buy-ins to this support system and his friends, and he is now a regular at these events.

Fox is known for his fearless and aggressive playing style, a hallmark of the modern German poker school. His strategy is incredibly sophisticated, honed through years of learning from top players. He's especially dangerous when he has a chip lead, as he understands how to use his stack to apply maximum pressure on his opponents. Despite being a relative newcomer to televised high-stakes tournaments, Fox has consistently maintained remarkable composure and calmness. In the tournament where he won his bracelet in the Bahamas, he had to eliminate his friend and mentor, Thomas Mullerk and Fedor Holz, at the final table. He remained completely unfazed, later describing the experience as "crazy" but "spectacular." His winning formula lies in combining his study of modern game theory optimal strategy (GTO) with the intuition honed through years of online and offline experience.

According to Hendon Mob, Tom Fox's live tournament winnings have surpassed $4.2 million. The vast majority of this came from an explosive surge in late 2024. His most notable achievement was winning his first World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet at the WSOP Paradise event in the Bahamas, where he won a $50,000 buy-in high-stakes event. He defeated a host of world-class professionals, ultimately taking home a career-high $1.292 million. Before winning the bracelet, Fox proved his ability to thrive in high-stakes events at the Triton Super High Roller series in Monte Carlo. In just one week, he first finished fifth in a $25,000 buy-in event, winning $284,000, and then seventh in a $150,000 buy-in event, winning $762,000. He carried this momentum into 2025, achieving even greater success in South Korea, finishing seventh in a $60,000 buy-in Triton event in Jeju Island, winning $345,000.
