Tom Dewane, step aside. A new record has been set for the largest pot in the history of live poker.
During the King Poker Cup held in Jeju Island, South Korea, a high-stakes player named ST won a pot of up to $5 million from Chinese poker pro and Triton champion Aaron Zang in a hand that is likely to be remembered for a while.
A record-breaking pot of millions of dollars was bought into the cash table.
This record-breaking hand occurred at the $1 million King Poker Cup million-dollar cash game, with blinds of $1,000/$2,000.
In a video shared on the X platform, the action reached the river with the community cards 10♦7♣Q♠K♠8♦. Zang, holding a straight of J♦9♣, bet $800,000 from the clutch position in a pot of $1,687,000. Action then shifted to the early position ST, who held a mysterious hand.
ST then raised all-in to $1,871,000, while Zang struggled with the decision regarding this nut straight (the second strongest hand after a flush). He ultimately called, and ST immediately revealed an even stronger straight of A♥J♥, winning the value. $5,029,000 The bottom pool.
This hand quickly garnered tens of thousands of views on social media, with one Japanese viewer calling it "unbelievable."
The lineup for this million-dollar cash game also includes online legend Wiktor “Limitless” Malinowski and Chinese high-stakes pro Xuan Tan.
Other large pots
This $5 million pot surpasses the previous record for the largest pot in live poker history, set in 2023 by the Hustler Casino Live million-dollar game, which will be held this year during the WSOP in Las Vegas.
The beneficiary of the $3,081,000 pot was high-stakes veteran Tom Dwan, while the loser was cryptocurrency entrepreneur Wesley Fei, who a few months later spent $400,000 a night in a Las Vegas villa.
In addition, some of the biggest live poker games in history took place last year and revolved around Ossi “Monarch” Ketola, who played against players such as Alex Foxen and Dan “Jungleman” Cates.
Zang, who has a live tournament winnings of up to $21.9 million, is no stranger to the huge swings in seven-figure buy-in events. In 2019, he won the £1,000,000 buy-in Triton Million for Charity in London, taking home $16.7 million.

Despite losing the $5 million pot, the Triton champion will have another chance to compete for the title and win back some of his winnings in the upcoming Triton Super High Roller Series in Montenegro, which will be held from May 13 to 28 at the Maestral Resort & Casino.
