Red Dragon Cup PLUS | Dragon Awakening Opening Tournament: Fierce Battles Across Two Fronts, 37 Players Advance to the Second Round

On July 9th, the Red Dragon Cup PLUS Summer Jeju Station officially kicked off its key matches at the Jeju Landing Resort, with the opening tournament, "Awakening of the Dragon," featuring crucial group matches. As a significant opening event for this series, Day 1 adopted a two-pronged approach, with Groups B and C playing fast-paced matches in succession, attracting players from all over to compete for second-round spots.

The competition lasted from noon until late at night, with both groups entering a fierce elimination phase. Ultimately, 23 players advanced from Group B, and 14 players broke through from Group C, bringing the total number of players who qualified for the second round of the Shenlong Awakening opening tournament group stage to 37.

Group B: 148 participants, Tsang Dicky Siu Hang leads the pack and advances.

At noon local time, the opening match of Shenlong Awakening, Group B, kicked off first. With the registration channel closing, this group attracted a total of 148 participants, and the competition on the field quickly intensified.

With 24 players remaining at level 16, the bubble phase officially began. As qualification became increasingly likely, the pace slowed significantly, and players engaged in prolonged battles over scoreboard pressure, with the bubble phase lasting nearly two hours.

In a crucial hand, Xu Guang Yao held A9, only to be met with a pocket pair of 2s from his opponent. Ultimately, Xu Guang Yao failed to stage a comeback, becoming the bubble player in Group B and missing out on advancing to the second round.

After Group B concluded, Hong Kong player Tsang Dicky Siu Hang became the chip leader with 776,000 chips, leading the remaining 22 players to advance to the next stage.

Group C Quick Play: Pan Yuefeng leads 14 players to break through with 600,000 chips.

After Group B concluded, the Group C quick-race competition continued. This group started at 6 PM local time, with many players who were eliminated in Group B choosing to switch to Group C for a final chance to advance. After registration closed, Group C had 92 participants.

With only 15 players remaining at level 20, Group C officially entered the bubble phase. At this point, Li Yongliang became the focus of attention. He first went all-in pre-flop with AA against Tan Win Meng's QQ from Malaysia. After the flop, Tan Win Meng hit trips to take the lead, but the turn and river failed to help Li Yongliang reverse the situation, leaving him with only 7000 chips.

In the next hand, Li Yongliang went all-in from the blind, drawing calls from all four opponents. This time, he hit a flush on the river, winning the pot and briefly extending his life in the game. Li Yongliang then went all-in again from the blind, only to run into Ma Teng's pocket Jacks. After three rounds of play, Li Yongliang ultimately finished 15th in Group C, becoming the bubble player and failing to advance to the second round.

Group C was ultimately led by Pan Yuefeng, the 2015 Red Dragon Main Event champion. He became the chip leader in Group C with 600,000 chips, leading 14 players to the next round. Xiao Bei, captain of the Red Dragon Women's Team, along with Zhang Yankai and Li Jingjing, who narrowly lost in Group B, also successfully advanced from Group C.
