Chinese student Eddie reached the final table of the 2026 SUPER CUP Incheon Free Roll and finished in 7th place.
Eddie, a Chinese student studying in South Korea, fought his way through the 246 participants in the SUPER CUP Incheon Free Roll to the final 9, becoming the only Chinese contestant in the Final Table and ultimately finishing in 7th place.

On October 8, 2026, the 7th SUPER CUP officially landed at Paradise City in Incheon, South Korea, kicking off an 11-day series. Building on the experience of the previous six editions, this year's event has made further adjustments in terms of participation costs, transportation, and player merchandise. The first day of competition quickly raised the atmosphere with a Free Roll and the opening match.

The most attention-grabbing player on the first day was Eddie, a Chinese player currently studying in South Korea. He fought his way from the 246 participants in the Free Roll to the Final Table, becoming the only Chinese player among the final nine, and ultimately finishing in 7th place.

On the other hand, the #1 opening event had 210 participants, with 21 players advancing to Day 2. Alexandr Tin became the chip leader of Day 1 with 483,000 chips.

The 7th SUPER CUP Incheon Station Opens, 11-Day Race Held at Paradise City

This year's SUPER CUP competition will be held at Paradise City in Incheon. The venue is close to Incheon International Airport and includes hotels, convention centers, retail and entertainment facilities, allowing participants to arrange their accommodation and competition in a relatively concentrated area.

SUPER CUP continues the series' tradition of using a crystal championship trophy, and this year's event also features updated player merchandise such as themed T-shirts, commemorative baseball caps, and exclusive card-pressing devices.

For actual participants, one of the biggest changes in the opening phase of this year's event is the further reduction of the entry threshold for some events, with Free Roll being a prime example on the first day.

The Free Roll attracted 246 participants with zero purchase, and 31 of them entered the reward pool.

On October 8, the opening day, SUPER CUP launched the Free Roll event, allowing participants to register without paying a purchase fee.

The competition offers a guaranteed prize of 100,000 RMB, ultimately attracting:

246 people participated

in:

31 people entered the prize pool

The champion's prize is:

3,500,000 Korean won

Jeon Woochang from South Korea ultimately reached the summit.

Eddie became the only Chinese player in the Final Four, ultimately finishing in 7th place.

The focus of the Chinese contestants in this Free Roll is Eddie.

This young player from Henan, currently studying in South Korea, successfully fought his way from 246 players to the final 9, becoming the only Chinese player in the Final Table.

He ultimately achieved:

7th place

Eddie has been involved in live tournaments for about a year and is not a full-time professional poker player. Unlike professional players who regularly participate in tournaments on the tour, he currently focuses primarily on his studies and usually only participates in tournaments during holidays or when time permits.

The reason he participated in SUPER CUP was quite straightforward—he saw that there was a Free Roll on the first day, so he decided to try signing up to experience a larger international event environment.

As a result, this competition, which was originally intended to accumulate experience, ultimately led him all the way to the final table.

With only 5BB remaining, the 89s turnaround with JQ becoming the key card.

When Eddie reviewed the game, he mentioned a key hand that almost got him eliminated early.

At that time, he only had:

5 Great Blinds

Obtained at the BTN position:

89 flush

In the short code state, he chose to go all-in directly.

The opponent got the BB position:

JQ

And complete the call.

Pre-flop, Eddie's 89s were behind.

The card is flipped and dealt:

8-2-2

Eddie hit a pair of eights to take the lead and eventually won the all-in, doubling down.

The original text did not disclose the turn and river cards, so no additional information on unconfirmed cards will be provided.

This hand allowed Eddie to escape elimination with only 5BB remaining, and became a crucial turning point in his journey to the Final Table.

After a year of live experience, Eddie positions poker as a long-term hobby.

For Eddie, poker is not a career path that requires full commitment at this stage.

As he is still studying in South Korea, he said that his daily focus is still on his studies, and he mainly schedules competitions during holidays, and will try to get tickets to major events through satellite tournaments with lower costs.

Compared to frequently buying into major tournaments directly, this approach is more in line with his current available time and funds.

After about a year of competition experience, he believes that his biggest change is not simply in his performance, but in his greater composure when facing fluctuations at the poker table and life issues.

When asked about the future, Eddie plans to prioritize completing his studies while treating tournaments as a long-term hobby that he can cultivate and improve upon. He also hopes to compete in larger-scale events if the opportunity arises.

210 people participated in the opening round, but only 21 advanced to Day 2.

Besides Free Roll, another key event on the first day of SUPER CUP is the #1 opening tournament.

The match started at 12:00 local time in South Korea, with a total of:

210 people participated

After the first day of competition, only:

21 people advanced to the second round

The advancement ratio is approximately 10%.

At the 200/400/400 level, Udachi, the Japanese SUPER CUP ambassador, raised to 400 from the BTN position, and the SB female player called.

NANA top two pair played out full value, doubling up to become the chip leader at the table.

Another key hand came from Japanese female player NANA.

With blinds at 600/1,200/1,200, NANA raises to 2,400 from the UTG+2 position, and BTN calls.

Flip the card:

Q♥ J♠ 4♦

Eddie finished 7th, setting the tone for the first day's results for Chinese players, and will continue the run on Day 2 of the opening tournament.

After the first day of competition at the 7th SUPER CUP Incheon Station, clear results have been achieved on both main fronts.

In the Free Roll event, 246 players participated, with 31 making it into the money. Jeon Woochang ultimately won the championship. Eddie, a Chinese student studying in South Korea, survived with only 5BB left in his short stack, fought his way to the Final Table, and finished in 7th place, becoming the only Chinese player to sit at the final table on the first day.

In the opening event, only 21 Day 2 players remained after 210 players entered the game, with Alexandr Tin taking the lead with 483,000 chips.

On October 9th, the opening tournament will enter its final championship battle. With the series officially underway, more main events and spur events will follow, and the performance of Chinese players in Incheon will continue to be a key focus of observation for the remaining tournaments.
