The World Poker Tour (WPT) will launch its brand new "The Victor" event this week. Starting today, "The Victor" is a three-day high-intensity cash game event held at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.
According to the organizers, the event features a rotating lineup of players and employs a "unique format centered on competition and rivalry." The event will be streamed live daily at 4:00 PM Pacific Time on the official WPT YouTube channel.
Understand the competition format
This high-stakes format has strict and brutal rules in place to ensure the most exciting action.
This format is essentially a standard seven-figure high-stakes cash game with blinds of $25/$50, using a pre-flop pot-limit structure and a post-flop no-limit structure. However, the two rivals must start with a stack of $5,000 when they sit down. Each player has only one re-buy opportunity of $5,000, and this can only be done after the 50th hand has been dealt.
The decisive turning point is that, precisely after 100 hands, the one with the larger chip stack among the two rivals will be officially crowned "The Victor." Under the brutal winner-takes-all rule, "The Victor" will take every single chip from his opponent's stack, leaving the loser empty-handed.
The lineups for these matches combine experienced pros, popular video bloggers, and social media influencers. The opening match on June 4th will feature celebrities and aggressive tournament pros from the East Coast of the United States, including Jared Jaffee, Nick Rigby, Roger Nahum, Wolfgang, Jouhan Allende, Nikki Limo, and Mike Dentale.
This craze will continue until June 5th and 6th, when even more popular online celebrities and mid-stakes poker players will join in:
