Andrew Robl defeated Eric Wasserson in a record-breaking pot of $2,478,000 during a High Stakes Poker live stream. Robl went all-in with a J-10 flush draw, successfully beating Wasserson's top pair A-9.

Cash game legend Andrew Robl made a high-stakes bet on fellow pro Eric Wasserson on Saturday to draw, resulting in the biggest pot in High Stakes Poker history.

This hand took place on Saturday during a High Stakes Poker game streamed live on PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas. The pot size was $2,478,000, slightly larger than the $2,421,500 pot Santhosh Suvarna won earlier this summer. But that was a three-way pot, while this hand was entirely a duel between Robl and Wasserson.

The biggest pot in the history of legendary programming

The hand began with Wasserson raising to $20,000 from the button with A♦9♥. Michael “Texas Mike” Moncek called from the small blind with 8♣5♣, and Robl then 3-bet to $110,000 from the big blind with J♦10♦.

Wasserson, a regular in Las Vegas's biggest cash games, didn't back down, 4-betting to $280,000. Moncek quickly folded, and Robl called with his suited connector, leaving him with $1.6 million chips, covering Wasserson's stack.

The flop came 9♦7♠4♠. After Robl checked, Wasserson decided to check with top pair. Robl received a flush draw plus a gutshot straight draw on the turn with a 3♦. He checked again, and Wasserson bet $200,000. Robl then semi-bluffed by check-raising, shoving Wasserson all-in. Wasserson had $739,000 chips remaining.

Wasserson had made an impressive fold with a full house the previous night, and he seemed to know he only had top pair in position.

“"Am I slow-playing you?" he asked before calling, after which both agreed to run twice.

Wasserson won the first community card with a river 6♥, Robl poured himself a glass of red wine, and then A♠ confirmed that he would not be able to take any share of the record $2.4 million pot.

Robl, one of the most successful cash game players in poker history, lost $669,500 that night, while Wasserson won $2.1 million – only slightly less than the $2.3 million he won last year in fifth place in the WSOP Paradise Super Main Event.

As for the other players at the table, Moncek won $276,500, Rick Salomon lost $280,500, and Alejandro Lococo lost $1,021,000.
