Compete against WSOP Main Event champion Ryan Riess at the Las Vegas Charity Poker Championship

The CSOP Charity Poker Series will host the "Every Hand Makes a Difference" event on October 3rd at the Via Brasil Steakhouse in Las Vegas, with WSOP Main Event Champion Ryan Riess as a guest bounty winner to raise funds for the Junior League of Las Vegas. The CSOP Charity Poker Series has just concluded its biggest event of the year, but the action isn't slowing down, as the CSOP prepares to host another charity poker tournament in Las Vegas this weekend. Poker fans will have the opportunity to compete against WSOP Main Event Champion Ryan Riess, who will be one of the guest bounties for the event on Saturday, October 3rd. The "Every Hand Makes a Difference" event will be held at the Via Brasil Steakhouse, featuring an open bar and an all-you-can-eat steak dinner before the tournament. This latest CSOP event for charity poker will raise funds for the Junior League of Las Vegas, a nonprofit organization supporting women and children in Nevada. Riess, the 2013 WSOP Main Event champion with $8.4 million, is a CSOP regular and will be one of the bounties for this event. Other bounties on Saturday night include actresses Katie Morgan and Rebel Lynn (both CSOP regulars), as well as Miss Nevada 2026 Mariah Larronde, artist Sean Keith, glassblowing legend Robert “Drakken” Raymond, and local personal injury lawyer Glen Howard. Riess is also a bounty winner at last week’s “Viva St. Jude” event at the Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa. Hosted by poker commentator Joe Stapleton, the event also featured four-time bracelet winner Mike Matusow and content creator Nikki Limo. The “Every Hand Means Something” event began with a poker lesson at 4:30 p.m. local time, with entry opening at 5:00 p.m. and the bar opening at 5:30 p.m. The tournament action began at 7:00 p.m., with a prize pool including $5,000 in cash and $10,000 in donated prizes. Players can get tournament and dinner tickets for $300, with repurchases and additional purchases available for $100 each. Negreanu called Doyle Brunson and Phil Ivey "natural rivals" in the poker world.

Daniel Negreanu shared a funny story about Doyle Brunson and Phil Ivey at the Shadow Creek golf course on the PokerNews Podcast, calling them like "natural enemies." Doyle Brunson Day is observed on October 2nd. Three and a half years after Doyle Brunson's passing, Daniel Negreanu shared one of his most unforgettable memories with the godfather of poker, a story that took place on a Las Vegas golf course and also involved another poker legend, Phil Ivey. In a recent interview with the PokerNews Podcast, Negreanu spoke about his friend Brunson—who passed away in May 2023. Others who knew Brunson also pay tribute to the poker legend today on "Doyle Brunson Day." The date October 2nd is a tribute to Brunson's iconic 10-2 hand. "Deep respect for each other," according to Negreanu, Brunson and Ivey had a close but contentious relationship. Their constant bickering and starkly contrasting personalities reminded Negreanu of the 1970s sitcom *The Odd Couple*, about two very different men forced to share an apartment. "They would argue, seeming to hate each other, but they had…a deep respect for one another," Negreanu recalled. According to Negreanu, these two gamblers spent money like water in casinos, but were extremely competitive when betting against each other. Once, at the famous Shadow Creek golf course in Las Vegas, they spent so much time arguing about handicaps that they missed their round. "They were arguing about half a stroke, whether you give a four-stroke or four and a half," Negreanu said. "The arguments usually lasted about five to ten minutes. Then, around three in the afternoon, you finally realized we weren't going to play that day because neither of them would give in." Negreanu also spoke of Brunson's impressive poker knowledge, which predated the GTO poker strategy era. "He was the original solver," Negreanu said. "He took a pencil and a piece of paper, and fired AK against 5 a hundred times, seeing how many times AK won... So he was doing cutting-edge research that we take for granted today." Other Doyle Brunson tributes to Negreanu are not the only ones who still remember Brunson three and a half years after his death. Brunson's X account has been converted into a "Doyle Brunson Legacy" page.
