A financially struggling DoorDash driver receives sponsorship from a poker video blogger to embark on an in-depth journey at the WSOP. DoorDash driver Nixon Diaz, sponsored by poker YouTuber Corey Eyring, competed in the WSOP and finished 26th in the $1,000 PLO event, earning $14,510 in prize money. This marked his first live tournament winnings.

Nixon Diaz finished 26th in the $1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha event at the World Series of Poker (WSOP), winning $14,510.

But that's not the point of the story. You might not even have heard of Diaz. After all, he didn't even have any live poker tournament winnings on The Hendon Mob before the 2026 WSOP. The point of the story is how he got into this tournament—it all started with a chance encounter with popular poker video blogger Corey Eyring.

Eyring, who has 187,000 YouTube subscribers, was planning to give two subscribers 1TP 4T 20,000 each to play poker at the WSOP. He ordered some food from DoorDash, and the delivery driver said to him, "I think I've seen you playing poker outside, man." The two shook hands.

Sponsor DoorDash drivers to play poker

The driver was Diaz. He then recalled that Alan Keating had sponsored Eyring for the 2025 WSOP Paradise Series $25,000 Super Main Event. Eyring was impressed—so impressed that he made a DoorDash offer that the driver couldn't refuse.

“If you want to play in the WSOP, I’ll sponsor you for free,” Eyring told him. “I’ll treat you the way Keating treated me.”

Diaz was almost moved to tears. He replied, “Man, I’m going to cry now because I’ve been begging for this, brother. I can’t afford it, brother. You know what I mean? Damn, brother, really? I’d love to, brother. I really would love to, brother.”

Eyring then gave him 1TP 4T 500, but not for playing poker. That was just a tip. More money followed, allowing Diaz to participate in the World Series of Poker.

“Man, I hope I can go deep, brother,” Diaz told Eyring.

Diaz's dream of making a deep run at the WSOP has come true. He first finished 78th out of 2,636 players in the $600 Pot-Limit Omaha event, winning $2,140. On Monday, he packed up a top 30 stack from over 1,800 entrants in Day 1, Group C of the $1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha event.

The second day went smoothly. Midway through the day, he accumulated a chip lead and was heading towards the life-changing $390,300 champion's prize. But PLO is a volatile game, and the initial surge turned into a downswing. Less than an hour before the end of that phase, he was eliminated in 26th place. While the $14,510 prize can't compare to winning a gold bracelet, it was still a decent reward for this DoorDash driver.

In a recent YouTube video in Eyring, Diaz admitted that he "started doing really well, but illegally," and was then caught and sentenced to five years in prison. He said he made a living in prison by gambling, earning money from fellow inmates at the poker table.

"The soup will be delivered every day," he said with a smile.

Diaz has paid off his debt to society and is now a free man rebuilding his life. Eyring is indeed helping—he gave Diaz enough money to pay three months' rent, some pocket money, and funds to play in the World Series of Poker.

So far, the investment appears to be paying off for Eyring – he will receive 50% of all of Diaz’s earnings in the 2026 WSOP.
