The Innocent's Center's second annual "All in for Justice" charity poker tournament will be held on October 2nd at Jamul Casino. The inaugural event raised $30,000, and this year's goal is to expand participation and raise funds for victims of wrongful convictions.
On October 2, 2025, the inaugural "All in for Justice Charity Poker Tournament" will be held—coinciding with "International Wrongful Conviction Day," an internationally recognized day aimed at raising awareness of the causes of wrongful convictions, the reforms needed to prevent them, and the profound personal, social, and emotional impacts of wrongful convictions on innocent people and their families.
The Innocence Center (TIC) hosted the event at the Jamul Casino Resort in San Diego, raising approximately $$30,000. They will now be hosting the event again on Friday, October 2, 2026.
The Innocent's Center's "All in for Justice" charity poker tournament returns to Jamul Casino.
“Following the success of the inaugural tournament, we are delighted that Jamul Casino Resort has agreed to host the second annual ‘All in for Justice’ charity poker tournament,” said TIC Attorney Claudia Salinas. “This year, we hope to build on what we have already achieved. Our goal is not just to host another poker tournament, but to continue creating a platform for the poker community and the wider community to understand the issue of wrongful convictions, to hear directly from those affected, to connect with the work of the Center for the Innocent, and to help raise the resources needed to change lives.”
The entry fee for this year's tournament is $150, and players can register in advance here. In addition, individuals or companies interested in sponsoring the event, as well as poker-related brands willing to donate equipment or prizes to the final table winners, can contact us through [website/platform name - implied]. claudia@theinnocencecenter.org Or call 619-928-2856 to contact us.

“That was probably the most meaningful part of the whole night for me,” Salinas added. “Seeing a group of people who came together because of their love of poker leave knowing that they had also done their part for the freedom of others is incredibly special. It’s a concrete example of what happens when you create a space where people can have fun, build a community, and support philanthropy all at the same time.”
A Review of Last Year's Activities
In 2025, TIC Executive Director Michael Semanchik welcomed all attendees and shared the mission of the Innocents Center: to free wrongfully imprisoned individuals, educate the public about the causes of wrongful convictions, and assist those who have been exonerated and released to rebuild their lives after their release.
Semanchik also honored Richard and Laurie Brooks, who served as the title sponsors of the inaugural event in memory of their late brother Steven Brooks, a poker enthusiast.
Trophy Design
A special trophy was awarded to the overall champion, its design carrying special significance. The spinning ribbon symbolizes resilience, the upward struggle for redress, and the institutional change inspired by every victory for freedom.
In addition, Salinas discussed the connection between poker and the courts. Both require keen observation, careful risk assessment, the ability to make decisions with incomplete information, and the willingness to adapt when new information changes the situation.
The intersection of poker and law is actually a theme explored by Salinas in The Grid Podcast, which she recorded with Jennifer Shahade.
“Last year, nearly 100 people sat down at the poker table and raised $$30,000 to fight wrongful convictions,” Salinas said. “This year, we hope to double the participation, and we need everyone who believes in this work to help spread the message. So, if you know any poker players, lawyers, business owners, potential sponsors, or just someone who cares about this issue, please share this information with them.”
