Aussie Millions champion Malcolm Trayner said, "I'm really looking forward to going to Las Vegas." Newly crowned Aussie Millions champion Malcolm Trayner, after winning on Mother's Day, has set his sights on the upcoming WSOP. He says he has already booked his trip and looks forward to continuing his challenge in Las Vegas.

It would be most fitting to have one of Australia’s fastest-rising stars write the story for Aussie Millions’ comeback.

Malcolm Trayner emerged victorious after a thrilling heads-up match against Dean Blatt, taking home a prize of AU$1.3 million.

With his mother watching from the sidelines for the first time in her life, this victory was not only a milestone in his career, but also a powerful boost to his upcoming trip to Las Vegas this summer for the World Series of Poker (WSOP).

A Card Grinder's Journey

Immediately after winning the championship, Trayner gave an exclusive interview to PokerNews, describing the victory as "unbelievable."

"I thought I was going to lose the one-on-one," he admitted. "It was a real rollercoaster ride."

The last time Aussie Millions was held, Trayner was playing in Sydney in a $300 buy-in tournament.

"For the past eight years, I have dedicated my life to poker."

To date, he has won the Australian Open and Aria Poker Classic titles, a WSOP Circuit gold ring, a WSOP gold bracelet, and now the Aussie Millions title.

Despite these accolades, he points out that onlookers often fail to see the full reality of a professional poker career.

"For the past eight years, I have dedicated my life to poker. People usually only see the wins, but they don't see the effort behind them, or the months of slumps. Winning a tournament like this means an unbelievable amount to me. I can't express how important it is to me to win Australia's most prestigious tournament."

About two years ago, after winning the gold bracelet, Trayner mentioned that he tried to "put the prize money aside" during the final table. This time, his strategy remained remarkably consistent.

"I tried to completely exclude the money from my mind and just focus on playing my game well," he said. "I think I did that, and I also had very good luck with the cards, which definitely helped me."

An unforgettable Mother's Day

Trayner's mother, Anna, supported her son throughout the final table. Her presence was especially fitting given that the victory coincided with Mother's Day.

"This is my first time watching him play," she said. "At first, I must admit we weren't the proudest parents for a son who decided to make a living playing cards. But now I have to admit I'm completely convinced!"

Trayner himself pointed out that his mother's appearance was a complete surprise.

"She just appeared on the sidelines—I couldn't believe it. All I could say was 'Happy Mother's Day!' You couldn't have found a better Mother's Day, and you better believe me, she's going to get a wonderful Mother's Day gift."

Anna's initial hesitation turned into complete pride, highlighting her newfound support for her son's career path.

"I think maybe it's time to accept it all," she said. "This isn't my path, but it's his dream, and maybe I need to support him."

Focus on World Championships

With the trophy in hand, Trayner's attention is now focused on the World Series of Poker, which starts in less than three weeks.

"I even booked my trip before the final table," he said. "It gave me a decent allowance. I won't gamble it all away, but I'm really looking forward to going to Las Vegas."
