Martin Tsvetanov adds another championship trophy
The 2026 PokerStars Open Namur Series continues in Namur, Belgium, and one of the first major champions to emerge is Bulgarian professional poker player Martin Tsvetanov.
In the €3,300 buy-in Super High Roller, Tsvetanov defeated a field of 69 players to win the title and a €60,000 first-place prize, once again proving his competitiveness in major European tournaments.
For Tsvetanov, who has risen rapidly in the past two years, this is another important achievement in his professional resume.
The High Roller tournament attracted 69 top players.
This €3,300 No-Limit Hold'em Super High Roller attracted 69 entries, with a total prize pool of €201,894. Ultimately, only 9 players made it into the money.
As one of the highest-level events in the series, it has attracted many professional poker players from Europe, Asia and other regions.
Players who made it into the prize pool include:
- Kazuyuki Tanemura (Japan)
- Mateusz Moolhuizen (Netherlands)
- Tobias Peters (Netherlands)
- Chaofei Wang (Hong Kong, China)
- Dimitar Toshev (Bulgaria)
- Michal Havavka (Slovakia)
Well-known professional players.
Given such a competitive environment, Tsvetanov's ability to emerge victorious makes his championship title all the more impressive.
The final table was packed with top players.
As the competition progressed to the final table, the competition intensified.
The first to be eliminated was Japanese athlete Kazuyuki Tanemura, who finished ninth and received €6,600 in prize money. Following him, Dutch stars Mateusz Moolhuizen and Tobias Peters finished eighth and seventh respectively.
Once the competition reached a six-player table, all players had secured a five-figure prize.
Chaofei Wang from Hong Kong, China, finished sixth and won €12,650; Dimitar Toshev from Bulgaria finished fifth and won €16,400.
Slovakian athlete Michal Havavka finished fourth, winning €21,400 in prize money.
The final three-way battle features a clash of international masters.
After the game moved to a three-player table, the remaining players were:
- Martin Tsvetanov (Bulgaria)
- David Hu (Netherlands)
- Kalidou Sow (France)
The three players have accumulated over 4.7 million euros in live tournament winnings, demonstrating their extensive experience.
Kalidou Sow was the 2017 PokerStars Championship Prague Main Event champion, while David Hu has also achieved great results in the European Tour in recent years.
However, Tsvetanov showed more consistent performance at crucial moments.
David Hu was the first to be eliminated, finishing in third place and winning a prize of 27,900 euros.
The match then moved into the one-on-one stage.
Defeated Kalidou Sow to become king
The championship match will be between Martin Tsvetanov and French star Kalidou Sow.
Both players have extensive experience in major tournaments, making their one-on-one match a true test of skill.
Ultimately, Tsvetanov successfully took control of the situation, defeated Sow, and became king.
Sow took home €39,200 as runner-up, while Tsvetanov won €60,000 as champion and the trophy.
Continuing its strong performance in recent years
In fact, Martin Tsvetanov has gradually become a rising star in the European poker scene in recent years.
In 2024, he won the record-breaking Eureka Prague Main Event, earning €449,034, marking the biggest breakthrough of his career.
The event attracted 4,732 participants, setting a new record for the Eureka Tour.
His recent victory at the PokerStars Open Namur High Roller event proves that he is not a flash in the pan, but a professional poker player with long-term competitiveness.
The PokerStars Open Namur Main Event continues to heat up.
Besides the Super High Roller event, the PokerStars Open Namur Main Event is also incredibly popular.
To date, the €1,100 buy-in main event has attracted 758 entries, and with the remaining group stage matches still ongoing, it is almost certain that the number of participants will exceed 1,000.
Currently, Belgian player Gary Hasson is temporarily leading the field with 367,000 chips.
With Day 2 about to begin, more exciting matches will continue to unfold.
Martin Tsvetanov, who just won the Super High Roller title, will undoubtedly be one of the most watched figures at this Namur event.
