Negreanu and Ivey competed at different WSOP final tables. Daniel Negreanu and Phil Ivey are both vying for a gold bracelet at the final tables of different WSOP events. Ivey is challenging for the PPC title, while Negreanu is seeking his eighth gold bracelet in the $25,000 Mixed Event.

Daniel Negreanu and Phil Ivey together hold 18 World Series of Poker (WSOP) gold bracelets. By the end of today, that number could rise to 20.

Both Poker Hall of Famers have a chance to win gold bracelets in different tournaments. Ivey is chasing the biggest win of his career, while Negreanu is trying to win his second WSOP title in the last three years.

Ivey and Negreanu have won gold bracelets twice in the same year – in 2013 and 2024.

Ivey seeks the greatest victory of his career

After a slow start to the summer, Ivey improved his form, successfully reaching the final six of the $50,000 Poker Players Championship. Day 5 of the tournament was streamed live on YouTube, with Kristopher Tong eliminated in sixth place before the stream began.

Ivey launched an aggressive attack early in the phase but quickly lost a large portion of his chips, while Benny Glaser, who was seeking his ninth gold bracelet, began to pull away from his opponent.

For Ivey, winning the PPC would be the most prestigious victory of his career, and he is already widely considered the greatest poker player of all time. If he wins, the $1,343,764 prize money will bring the World Poker Tour (WPT) ambassador's live tournament winnings at The Hendon Mob to over $56 million. More importantly, he will win his 12th gold bracelet, just five shy of Phil Hellmuth's record.

Ivey won his last gold bracelet in 2024, ending a decade-long drought in the $10,000 Limit 2-7 Three Draws tournament. He will aim for an even bigger goal on Thursday, but he must make it through an extremely challenging final table.

Will Negreanu welcome the "Magic Eighth Ball" today?

Negreanu started the final table of the $25,000 High Roller PLO/NLH Mixed Event as a short stack, but for a player of the "Poker Prodigy's" caliber, a comeback victory wouldn't surprise anyone.

The seven-time WSOP bracelet winner experienced a frustrating yet fruitful summer, making only one final table appearance in $600 No-Limit Hold'em/Pot-Limit Omaha, and repeatedly failing to advance beyond the final table bubble. One of the most painful was his 11th-place finish in the $50,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller.

Negreanu won his last gold bracelet at the 2024 Poker Players Championship – the same event Ivey is currently competing for. To win his eighth gold bracelet today, he needs to overcome a formidable lineup: multiple-time bracelet winner Dylan Linde and defending champion Lou Garza (who is pursuing an amazing winning streak) are both formidable opponents in his path.

Negreanu doubled up with a straight flush at the final table, defeating Finnish pro Eelis Parssinen's full house—Parssinen is one of the world's top PLO players.

Will Negreanu succeed? Stay tuned for PokerNews' live coverage of the $25,000 High Roller PLO/NLH mixed tournament.
