Wynn Resorts has appointed Andrew Ormsby as its new Director of Poker Operations, succeeding Ryan Beauregard. Ormsby, who has served as Operations Manager at Wynn for eight years, will continue to enhance the Wynn Poker brand and expand the mixed-games schedule.
When it comes to poker rooms in Las Vegas, poker players consistently rate Wynn Poker Room highly. From its indoor poker rooms to external series like the WPT World Championship, Wynn has established itself as a top poker destination. This is largely thanks to the hard work behind the scenes by the entire staff who operate this 28-table poker room.
For years, the head of poker operations has been industry veteran Ryan Beauregard (pictured above left). But now, like the character in the 1995 film "Far From Las Vegas" played by Nicolas Cage, Beauregard is also leaving Las Vegas.
Beauregard's departure left a vacancy for the Director of Poker Operations. To fill the position, Wynn wisely looked inward, selecting Andrew Ormsby (pictured above right), who had served as Operations Manager for the past eight years. Anyone who has frequently played or worked at Wynn in recent years knows Ormsby and understands how crucial he has been to the success of the poker room.
PokerNews recently interviewed Ormsby to discuss his thoughts on being promoted to Wynn's new Director of Poker Operations.
Who is Andrew Ormsby?

Ormsby grew up in Massachusetts before moving to Colorado for high school. Sports have always been an important part of his life, a passion that carried over into college, where he played both Division I and Division II college basketball. He graduated from Eckert College with a degree in Business Administration, majoring in Marketing, which played a crucial role in his career path.
He met his wife, Amanda, while living in Colorado, and the two have been married for nearly 15 years.
“My family is spread across the country—my brother is a lawyer in Florida, my sister is a teacher in New Hampshire, and my father lives in Maine after retiring,” Ormsby told PokerNews. “These relationships have given me a broad perspective and provided a strong support system throughout my career.”
Meanwhile, he learned to play poker when he was 19 and in college.
"I played a lot during college, which helped me build a solid foundation in the game. One of my first professional jobs after graduation was at an information poker company in Florida. Shortly after, I decided to travel and focus primarily on playing poker."
He continued, “Over time, I built up a network in the industry, which gave me the opportunity to land my first management position—as a poker room manager at a small casino. I moved back and forth between Colorado and Las Vegas, taking on more important roles in increasingly larger poker rooms over time. Eventually, I landed the position of Operations Manager at Wynn Poker Room, a position I’ve held for the past eight years.”
Earlier this year, his former boss and mentor, Ryan Beauregard, moved to become the vice president of the soon-to-open Wynn Amaljan Island resort in Ras Al Khaimah. This left his position vacant, and Ormsby was the perfect candidate to fill it.
“I am honored to take on the role of Director of Poker Operations at Wynn Las Vegas,” Ormsby said. “I am incredibly excited to continue developing the Wynn Poker brand and build on its existing success. Our leadership team includes myself, Tournament Director Ray Pulford, and Ryan Kirk. Ryan will be succeeding me as Assistant Director; he previously served as Director of the Aria Poker Room.”
"The three of us share the same goals and are full of energy for the future. Our focus is on providing players with a first-class experience. While there may not be any dramatic changes in the short term, players can expect continuous improvement and a commitment to making Wynn one of the best poker venues in the world."
Ormsby's first major series since his promotion is the ongoing 2026 Wynn Summer Classic, which is being covered by PokerNews.
“Summer is always one of the most exciting times of the year, with many players coming to Las Vegas from all over the world,” Ormsby told PokerNews. “Our Wynn Summer Classic tournament portion is something we look forward to every year and is a highlight of the series. In addition, we’ve expanded the schedule, incorporating more mixed-game events than ever before, giving players a wider range of choices. No matter what type of game a player is looking for, we’re excited to have events to suit everyone.”
