Poker pro Jared Griener was ambushed, tied up, and robbed of his WSOP winnings by two men at his Airbnb in Las Vegas. Video footage shows him barefoot and duct-bound as he sought help from a neighbor. Police are investigating.

Newly released video shows poker pro Jared Griener in action shortly after he claimed he was tied up and robbed of his World Series of Poker (WSOP) prize money in Las Vegas.

According to Griener's social media post earlier this week, he was ambushed by two men as he entered his Airbnb in Las Vegas. He was carrying his winnings from the entire summer of the WSOP, including the $57,500 prize from his 218th place finish in the $10,000 Main Event.

The Southern California poker pro wrote on the X platform on July 13: "When I walked through the door, two men were already waiting inside. They immediately pinned me to the ground, tied me up, and took the backpack containing all my winnings."

Violent ambush due to poker prize money

According to Griener's more detailed account of the robbery, he returned to his Airbnb around 8 p.m. on July 12 after being eliminated from the WSOP $1,500 Closer event. He entered the house (the front door was locked) and "two men appeared from around the corner, immediately pounced on me, and pinned me to the ground."

Griener stated that the two men "tied my arms behind my back, and one of them said, 'Don't move, or we'll fucking kill you.'" They then began questioning him about his backpack, "and threatened to kill me if I didn't tell them." He told them the backpack was in the car and "begged them to take whatever they wanted and leave, just to let me live."

The men allegedly then bound Griener's hands behind his back with duct tape and placed a plate on his back to prevent him from moving, while they searched the house. Griener said, "After a while, I realized they had left the house, so I started twisting my body to get the tape off."

Video obtained by KSNV News 3 in Las Vegas shows Griener barefoot, with duct tape wrapped around her hands, pleading for help at her neighbor's doorstep shortly after being robbed.

"Please help me. Someone broke into the house across the street and fucking robbed me. They took my phone. They took everything. They tied me up, and I just escaped. Can you call 911 if you're there? Please, please help me."

Another video obtained by KSNV shows two men walking toward an Airbnb in the Somerlin area and leaving 20 minutes later with what appears to be a backpack.

Investigation and Follow-up

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that they received a report of a robbery in the community around 8:40 p.m. Sunday. Police stated that the investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.

Griener stated on social media that he suspects someone may have been "watching him at the WSOP and knew he was going home with cash." He also pointed out that the intruders knew the Airbnb door lock code, and surveillance footage showed they arrived 10 minutes earlier than him.

An Airbnb spokesperson stated, "Safety is our top priority, and while these incidents are rare, we take them very seriously. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is actively investigating this case, and we are ready to cooperate fully."

Griener has over $3.3 million in live tournament winnings, ranking second on Utah's all-time winnings list, and is a renowned tournament and cash game player in the Los Angeles area. He has appeared on high-stakes live shows such as Hustler Casino Live, Live at the Bike, and Bally Live.
