PokerStars Sunday Millions 20th Anniversary Celebration: Stage 1 Continues Throughout the Week

The PokerStars Sunday Million 20th Anniversary Edition has begun, with a buy-in of 1TP 4T 109 and a guarantee of 1TP 4T 5 million chips. The first stage of the tournament runs throughout the week, and some players have already accumulated over a million chips.

The PokerStars Sunday Millions is about to celebrate its 20th anniversary. To mark this milestone, PokerStars is hosting a 20th-anniversary edition of the longest-running weekend tournament in online poker history—specifically, a progressive bounty tournament with a 1TP 4T 109 buy-in and a 1TP 4T 5 million guarantee.

To achieve its ambitious goal of $5 million, PokerStars needs 50,000 entries. The online poker giant plans to reach this goal through dozens of first-stage tournaments, which will run until September 6th—the start of the second stage.

There are also 15 matches in the first stage between July 21 and 25. They will start each day at 4:25 pm, 7:25 pm and 10:25 pm British Summer Time.

In each $109 buy-in event, players start with 10,000 chips. Each stage lasts 10 minutes, with blinds starting at 40/80/10. Players can re-buy up to three times during the late-entry period; late-entry closes 1 hour and 40 minutes after the first card is dealt. Each stage ends when only 3% players remain.

Since the Sunday Million 20th Anniversary event is a Progressive KO (PKO) tournament, each participant in the first stage starts with a $50 bounty. The player who eliminates them immediately wins half of that bounty, while the other half is added to that player's bounty, making them an even more attractive target.

Players can participate in any number of Stage 1 events according to their own wishes or financial situation until they successfully advance to the second day.

Who is currently leading the Sunday Million 20th Anniversary Race?

As of press time, nearly 12,600 PokerStars players have bought in the completed first stage of the tournament, with 403 participants successfully advancing to the second stage on September 6.

Two players have successfully grown their starting stacks from 10,000 chips to seven figures! Austria's "go1vs1 legko" is currently the chip leader with 1,076,054 chips, while Canada's "getdamoney0" also boasts a massive stack of 1,045,132 chips.

PokerStars regulars "roo_400" (791,814) and "P0TCHECKER99" (779,309) are currently in the top ten. More excellent players are expected to join in the coming weeks.

Satellite tournaments for the Sunday Million 20th Anniversary event, with a $5 million guaranteed bankroll, are now available on PokerStars. Buy-ins start at 0.55 per $.

Players looking to enter the first stage of the $109 tournament through different means can try the special edition Spin & Go tournaments – which only require three players to register. These special editions have a buy-in of $0.75 or $4, and the winner will receive a commemorative ticket to the $109 Sunday Million Anniversary Tournament, or satellite tournament tickets ranging from $1.50 to $22, depending on the buy-in and prize pool multiplier.
