The World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas is coming to an end, but the pace of tournament poker never stops, with the next big event taking place in Texas.
The Champions Club in Houston—one of Lone Star State's premier poker rooms—will host the Summer Open Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament starting August 5th. The series boasts a total guaranteed prize pool of $1.2 million and will run until August 17th.
Series Highlights

The tournament will kick off with the $400 No-Limit Hold'em Monster Chip Event at 11:00 AM on August 5th, guaranteeing a prize pool of $100,000. There will also be another event on opening day, as well as two $100 Main Event satellite events in the evening.
The series' biggest event—the $800 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event—will begin at 11:00 AM the following day, guaranteeing a prize pool of $500,000. Players can participate in each Day 1 starting group. There will be multiple Day 1 events between Day 1 and Day 2 (August 9th), with the final table scheduled for August 10th at the Champions Club.
Between the main event and the finals, there are other exciting tournaments on the schedule, not just for No-Limit Hold'em enthusiasts. For example, there's the $500 HORSE tournament on August 6th at 4 PM (guaranteed prize: $10,000), or the $300 Big O event on August 9th at 5 PM (guaranteed prize: $10,000). Also on August 9th is the $250 Women's No-Limit Hold'em tournament (guaranteed prize: $10,000), and on August 10th is the $250 Seniors No-Limit Hold'em tournament (guaranteed prize: $10,000).
The biggest non-NLH event is the $1,100 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship, guaranteeing a minimum prize of $150,000. The first starter group will begin on August 10th, with the second day on August 13th. Players will have numerous opportunities to enter the championship at low cost through satellite tournaments.
