Vietnamese female poker player Nguyễn Thị Nga (Lisa) has officially joined the Red Dragon Women's Team and will participate in more Asian and international poker tournaments in the future.

On August 3, 2026, the Red Dragon Women's Team announced the arrival of a new member, Vietnamese female poker player Nguyễn Thị Nga (Lisa), who officially joined the team.

Lisa has been active in live poker tournaments in Vietnam and Asia in recent years, achieving numerous final table and deep run results at the USOP, QPC, and Red Dragon Cup PLUS. Her addition not only strengthens the Red Dragon Women's Team's competitive lineup but also further connects the Chinese and Vietnamese women's poker communities.

From beauty and real estate to the poker arena

Outside of the poker table, Lisa has long been deeply involved in the beauty industry, while also operating real estate investment and leasing businesses, enjoying a relatively stable personal career.

Outside of work, she maintains a fitness routine and loves to travel, hoping to maintain a balance between work, life, and poker. Lisa believes that good physical condition and a positive mindset help players maintain judgment and focus during long tournaments.

In her personal life, Lisa is cheerful and enjoys trying new things; but once she sits at the poker table, she quickly switches to a calm and focused competitive state. This contrast between her life and the playing field has become a distinctive personal characteristic of hers.

I was introduced to poker five years ago through a friend's card game.

Lisa's connection with poker began five years ago. At the time, she watched her friends play, initially hoping to understand the rules, but gradually became attracted to the strategic judgment and psychological games involved in poker.

As her studies deepened, she began to realize that long-term performance in tournaments is not solely based on luck, but rather on strategic adjustments, logical thinking, money management, and emotional control.

This realization prompted Lisa to gradually shift from being an amateur to undergoing systematic training and begin participating in more formal live competitions.

Self-discipline and financial management won the support of family members.

When Lisa first got involved in poker, her family and friends lacked knowledge of competitive poker and were therefore worried about her choice.

However, by managing her tournament winnings wisely, continuously researching techniques, and maintaining a stable and disciplined lifestyle, she gradually dispelled the doubts of those around her. Today, her family has become a vital support for her poker journey.

She also hopes that through her own experience, more people will understand the professional value of competitive poker in terms of strategy, discipline, and psychological management.

The results of the competition have continued to improve in the past two years.

After five years of accumulation, Lisa has gradually achieved stable results in live events in Asia over the past two seasons.

In 2025, she made it to the final table in several USOP Super Turbo events, achieving two third-place finishes and one fourth-place finish, and also finished fifth in the Grand Loyal Women's Event.

Entering 2026, she once again won the runner-up title at QPC Evening Storm 8-Max and completed the deep run in both the QPC Main Event and the USOP Main Event.

Red Dragon Cup PLUS 40th place finish leads to franchise opportunity

In July 2026, Lisa participated in the Red Dragon Cup PLUS Summer Jeju Station and achieved 40th place in the We Poker Dragon Ball Mystery Bounty Tournament.

This trip to Jeju Island allowed her to gain a deeper understanding of the Red Dragon esports brand and became an important opportunity for her to connect with the Red Dragon women's esports team. Lisa believes that the Red Dragon Cup boasts professional event organization, a complete competition system, and a high-level Asian lineup, providing valuable practical experience with each participation.

Joining a team is not the end, but a second stage of growth.

After receiving the invitation from the Red Dragon Women's Team, Lisa said that joining the team is an affirmation of her past efforts, and also represents a new responsibility.

She sees joining the team as the starting point of her "second growth," hoping to accumulate international competition experience, improve her skills, and break through her current competitive limits through a more professional platform.

The Red Dragons women's team has recently welcomed Vietnamese player Alice. Lisa stated that seeing outstanding female poker players gain attention and recognition proves that a more mature development environment is emerging for women's poker in Asia.

In the future, she looks forward to competing alongside Alice, and through exchange and complementarity, to introduce the Red Dragon Cup and the Red Dragon Women's Team to more Vietnamese poker players.

The Vietnamese poker market is growing rapidly.

As a player who has been active in the local arena for a long time, Lisa has witnessed the development of the competitive poker environment in Vietnam in recent years.

The number of formal tournaments in the region continues to increase, the number of professional and semi-professional players is gradually expanding, and more Vietnamese players are starting to participate in overseas series.

Lisa believes that Vietnamese players generally possess characteristics such as dedication, a willingness to take on challenges, and strong adaptability. They are able to adjust their strategies according to the stage of the match when facing opponents from different countries and with different playing styles.

The Vietnamese poker community frequently conducts post-tournament debriefings and experience sharing, fostering healthy competition and mutual exchange, which is a key reason for the continuous improvement of the overall strength of local players.

Encourage women not to give up because of stereotypes

Lisa hopes that people will remember her not only for her rankings in a single tournament, but also for being a humble, disciplined, respectful, and continuously learning Vietnamese female poker player.

She also hopes to break the long-standing stereotype that poker is dominated by men through her own experience.

Lisa stated that women should not give up on their goals because of external prejudices. As long as they truly love poker, maintain discipline, and continue to learn, they also have the opportunity to achieve outstanding results in competitive play.
