Can the 2026 World Series of Poker (WSOP) surpass last summer's historic achievement? A look back at the historic records of the 2025 WSOP: Benny Glaser's three-time champion, Michael Mizrachi's two-time champion, Leo Margets's appearance at the Main Event final table, and an analysis of whether the 2026 WSOP can achieve similar success.

If the 2026 World Series of Poker (WSOP) has anything in common with 2025, then, in Gus Hansen’s words, it’s going to be a great summer.

Last year's Las Vegas Series originally planned to host a record 100 bracelet events, but due to the controversy surrounding the Infamous "Millionaire Maker" final table collusion, only 99 bracelets were awarded. Including online and multiple live events, the WSOP awarded a record 234 bracelets throughout the year.

The 2025 WSOP saw a rare triple crown winner, who wasn't even the best performer that summer.

Two-person duel gold bracelet

One of the most impressive records broken last year was by Artur Martirosian. Win in the 25,000 heads-up tournament and win500,000. He thus became the first player in history to win multiple heads-up tournament gold bracelets.

Martirosian also won the online heads-up tournament in 2023, with a prize of... 424,698. Yosef Fox is another player to win a rare gold bracelet. This California poker player...He won the 10,000 Mystery Bounty Tournament, earning $729,333. His son, Jordan Fox, is a past bracelet winner, making them the third father-son duo to win a WSOP bracelet.

It's rare for Aaron Cummings to quietly win the same gold bracelet event two years in a row. Cummings won for the second consecutive year. In a 1,500 Limit 2-7 Low Card Three-Draw 6-Max event, he defeated 635 entrants to win.157,152. In 2024, he won the same tournament, standing out from a field of 574 players with a score of $146,516.

Even more astonishing is that Cummings has only won five WSOP prizes in his career, and his winning percentage (number of wins/number of prizes) is the fourth highest in history.

Benny's Summer

It's not surprising that Benny Glaser won one, or even multiple, gold bracelets in the same summer. He'll have won five by the time of the 2025 WSOP and has already proven himself to be one of the world's top tournament players.

But for anyone, even the best players, winning three gold bracelets in the same summer is extremely rare. How rare? Before Glaser, only seven people in the 56-year history of the World Series of Poker had achieved this, including Scott Seiver, who won three in 2024. Here is a list of eight triple crown winners.

During the 2025 WSOP, Glaser also joined another solo club. He is one of three players to join the club of eight gold bracelets, along with Shaun Deeb and Michael Mizrachi.

Leo Margets Makes History

Leo Margets, who finished seventh, became the first woman to reach the WSOP Main Event final table since Barbara Enright in 1995. Enright's fifth-place finish 21 years ago was the highest ever achieved by a woman in the event.

No other female player has ever reached the final table of this World Championship. However, many others have made it to the deep rounds, including future Poker Hall of Famer Kristen Foxen, who finished 13th in 2024. Four other women have come very close to the final table: Barbara Samuelson (1994), Susie Isaacs (1998), Annie Duke (2000), and Gaelle Baumann (2012).

Can the 2026 WSOP surpass the 2025 WSOP?

Glaser won three gold bracelets, Michael Mizrachi became the first player in history to win both the Main Event and the Poker Players Championship in the same year, and neither of these superstars won the 2025 WSOP Player of the Year award. That's because Deeb accumulated more points, winning the honor for the second time in his career. That's only part of why this series is so captivating.

So, is it possible for the 2026 WSOP to surpass everything we witnessed last summer? The answer is yes, and we may even see some other milestones and records broken, including the 500th different player in history to become a WSOP millionaire (winning at least $1 million in a single event).

We will also witness the awarding of the 3,000th gold bracelet and the holding of the 3,000th WSOP Championship, which will conclude on August 5th with the closing of the Main Event final table.
