Montenegrin player ZaCafu led from start to finish in the 888poker $80,000 Mystery Bounty Main Event, winning $8,301. Brazilian star joao_mathias won the $8,000 bounty.

Montenegro's "ZaCafu" entered the final table of the 888poker $80,000 Mystery Bounty Main Event with more than twice the chip stack of the other seven opponents combined. Less than 90 minutes later, they emerged victorious, completing a lead-through-the-end dominance.

After several weeks of overlays in the prize pool, and perhaps due to the ongoing FIFA World Cup drawing players away from the tables, 888poker recently reduced the $100,000 guarantee to $80,000. The new guarantee debuted last weekend, but tournament overlays have reappeared. This week's 744 entries also resulted in overlays, though by a smaller margin than in previous tournaments.

Only eight rising stars remained at the end of Day 1. Most of the biggest mystery prizes had been claimed and opened, including a $8,000 jackpot. Brazilian superstar Joao "joao_mathias" Mathias won the $8,000 bounty before advancing to the final table. However, a $3,200 bounty remained unclaimed, significantly altering the all-in and call ranges for the finalists.

$80,000 Mystery Bounty Main Event Final Table Chip Count

The Swedish team "BananUlla" had the shortest stack at the final table, dwindling to less than five big blinds when they were eliminated. They opened all-in from early position with AK, and "Oldnall" called from the big blind with Q-3. "BananUlla" hit two pair on the flop, but a 10 on the turn and a J on the river gave "Oldnall" an unexpected straight, sending "BananUlla" out in eighth place.

"Georgian23" was the next to be eliminated. They ended up going all-in for 22 big blinds with pocket eights against the short-stacked "SERGI0BR" and the deep-stacked "ZaCafu," who held AK spades and pocket sixes respectively. "SERGI0BR" improved to a flush, and "ZaCafu" hit trips on the turn, eliminating "Georgian23."

Sixth place went to "joao_mathias"—their A-10 couldn't beat "yriy3's" overwhelming AQ. "joao_mathias" won the $8,000 bounty before the final table, and their mystery bounty envelope contained the final $3,200, which they gave to "yriy3".

"Oldnall" lost a coin flip with AK against "ZaCafu"'s pocket ten, leaving only four players at the final table. Then, "SERGI0BR" from Brazil was eliminated in fourth place, their pocket ten crushed by "yriy3's pocket kings."

The heads-up match was reached when another Brazilian player, "Paulada85," went all-in on the river—they went all-in with K-6 of clubs on an A-2-6-AQ board (two clubs). This move might have succeeded if "ZaCafu" hadn't been sitting there with A-7 to make trips of aces. "ZaCafu" called, and the $80,000 Mystery Bounty Main Event went heads-up.

"ZaCafu" started heads-up play with a 128.9 big blind to 30.6 big blind chip lead over "yriy3". Shortly after, "yriy3" entered an all-in or fold situation, choosing 9-7. "ZaCafu" called with J-10. Both players hit a pair on the flop, but "yriy3" failed to find a second pair, finishing as runner-up and winning $8,745. "ZaCafu" will at least be known as the Mystery Main Event champion for the week, an honor that brings in $8,301.

$80,000 Mystery Bounty Main Event Final Table Results

With the FIFA World Cup final scheduled for July 19th, the $80,000 Mystery Bounty Main Event will be temporarily relegated to the sidelines this weekend. Instead, a Mystery Bounty Football event with a $109 buy-in and a $25,000 guarantee will take place on July 19th at 6:00 PM BST. This is a single-day tournament, and the Mystery Bounty will be available starting at level 18.
