Poker star Bin Weng returns to the tables after a brief hiatus due to health concerns.

Bin Weng returned to the poker table after a seven-month hiatus due to health issues at the Borgata Summer Poker Open. He had previously amassed a record of $6,663,696 in winnings in 2023, and has now made a strong comeback after adjusting his mindset and lifestyle.

For about three years, Bin Weng was virtually everywhere.

This top poker player from Pennsylvania had long established himself as one of the most consistent tournament grinders in the country, but since 2023, his career has entered a high-speed mode. Millions of dollars in prize money, major championship titles, and seemingly endless deep runs have followed, making Weng one of the hottest players on the tour.

His tournament winnings never really slowed down. After accumulating $6,663,696 in live tournament winnings in a phenomenal 2023, he added another $519,146 in 2024 and another $945,780 in 2025. However, at the end of last year, everything suddenly came to a stop.

Health issues forced Weng to leave the poker table for about seven months, turning this once busiest tournament regular in the poker world from a participant into a spectator watching from home.

PokerNews interviewed Weng during the Borgata Summer Poker Open, who is currently one of the final three players at the $650 Super Deepstack Six-Max event. The event attracted 401 entries, creating a total prize pool of $228,570, with the champion receiving $41,150. Thursday's event will proceed to the final table, with the remaining players returning on Friday for the final round, which will be streamed live on the BetMGM Poker YouTube channel.

The impact of poker training on Weng

"I'm doing well now," Weng said. "Thank you for your concern about my health. I had a few health issues about seven or eight months ago, but most of them have been resolved."

Looking back, Weng believes that years of continuous travel have finally taken their toll on him.

"I just played too much poker. One tournament after another. I was always on the road, or on my way to a tournament. I wasn't eating healthily, and I wasn't getting enough exercise. I think I'm much better now."

Weng spent most of his early poker career playing low-stakes tournaments until around 2019 when he began to break into larger buy-in events. He is known for his aggressive style and tireless schedule, and in 2023 he took his game to another level.

That year, he kicked things off by winning The Return: A Borgata Championship ($1,000,000), and a few weeks later he won the WSOP Circuit Main Event ($1,700) for $227,344.

April brought another career milestone – he won the $3,500 WPT Showdown tournament at Seminole Hard Rock, earning $1,128,250. Less than a month later, he won the biggest prize of his career, $2,227,054, from the $10,000 WPT EveryOne for One Drop event.

Weng continued to achieve impressive results for the remainder of the season. He finished as runner-up in the Borgata Poker Fall Mini Series 8-Max event, earning $134,897, and then went on to win a massive $958,279 in the WPT World Championship Music Festival $25,000 High Roller event, bringing the year to a close.

After a successful year in his professional career, Weng did not relax but continued to travel. He added $519,146 to his live winnings in 2024 and another $945,780 in 2025, until health issues finally forced him to take a long break from the game.

Weng's return

Aside from six prizes at the World Series of Poker this summer, Weng largely missed the live circuit until his return in Las Vegas.

"Honestly, it feels amazing (to be back)," Weng said. "Playing poker is something I love. It's not just about the money. I love playing poker in competition. When I sit at the poker table, I feel like it's the perfect place for me."

Despite being away for several months, Weng doesn't feel like he's lost too much.

"Everything is back on track," he said. "I feel the same as before. I feel like I can still play."

However, this break forced him to reassess his priorities.

"My plan is to play less than before. Not just poker. I need to live a real life, be with my family, and spend more time with my kids and family... I can play online poker at home, but I prefer playing live poker."

This week's match in Borgata is one of the few places where he feels a sense of belonging.

“Borgata has always been my home casino,” Weng said. “I live in Pennsylvania. It’s only about an hour’s drive here. So, coming to Borgata is like a mini-vacation for me. It’s close and convenient.”

As of press time, Weng still has 12 players to face in the Super Deepstack Six-Max event. While many players are already thinking about Friday's live final table, that's never been his style.

“I never think like that when I’m playing poker,” he said. “I never think too much about the outcome. I just try my best to do my best in every hand and try to win every hand… But coming back to the live poker circuit feels a little special and makes me very happy.”
