Daniel Negreanu squanders a 10-1 lead! Biao Ding stages a stunning comeback to advance to the WSOP Heads-Up Quarterfinals.

Daniel Negreanu was eliminated by Biao Ding. Biao Ding staged a remarkable comeback from a 10-1 deficit to defeat Daniel Negreanu in the 2026 WSOP $25K Heads-Up Championship.

Negreanu was just one step away from the quarterfinals when he suffered a stunning comeback defeat.

The 2026 World Series of Poker (WSOP) continues to feature exciting matches, and in the $25,000 Heads-Up Championship, poker legend Daniel Negreanu suffered an incredible defeat.

Facing Biao Ding, one of China's top professional poker players, Negreanu initially built a massive 10-1 chip lead, seemingly securing victory. However, just a few hands later, the situation completely reversed.

Biao Ding completed three crucial double-ups in a row, ultimately reversing the situation and eliminating Negreanu to advance to the quarterfinals, creating one of the most dramatic comeback victories of this year's WSOP.

Negreanu advances strongly to the second day of competition.

Prior to this, Negreanu did not have a smooth start at this year's WSOP.

He was defeated by AA when he was close to the money in Event #2:$5,000 No-Limit Hold'em 8-Handed, missing out on his first WSOP prize of the year.

But as a seven-time WSOP bracelet winner, Negreanu has always been known for his tenacious fighting spirit.

In the $25,000 1v1 championship match, he defeated:

  • Darius Samual (2024 Champion)
  • Brock Wilson
  • Harvey Castro

They successfully advanced to the second day of competition.

His next opponent is none other than Biao Ding, a renowned high-stakes tournament player from China.

They once built a huge lead of 10 to 1

Negreanu dominated the first half of the match.

In a key hand, the community cards are:

3♣ 10♣ J♠ 7♣ 6♦

Negreanu hit top pair with Q♦ J♣ and bet 225,000 chips on the river, more than half of Biao Ding's remaining chips.

Biao Ding eventually called with 10♥ 8♣, but couldn't beat Negreanu.

After this hand ended, the score difference between the two players was:

  • Daniel Negreanu: 2,200,000 (88BB)
  • Biao Ding: 221,000 (9BB)

A difference of a full 10 times.

At the time, many viewers thought the outcome of the match was no longer in doubt.

However, the real story is just beginning.

Biao Ding launches an epic counterattack

First, Biao Ding, holding K♠9♠, went all-in against Negreanu's 7♥5♥.

Despite Negreanu having as many as 18 outs on the turn, the river failed to improve his hand, and Biao Ding successfully doubled up for the first time.

Shortly after, Biao Ding went all in again.

This time, his A♦10♠ successfully defeated Negreanu's K♠Q♠, completing his second doubling.

The situation in the game began to change gradually.

What truly changed the fate of the entire game was the third doubling of the bet.

The river card, with three draws, completed an incredible comeback.

In the most crucial hand:

Negreanu:A♥ Q♦

Biao Ding: A♠ 9♠

Both sides played all their scoreboards again.

Flip the card:

6♦ 5♥ 2♦

Turn Card:

10♠

At this point, Negreanu still held a significant lead.

Biao Ding only has three 9s left as a chance to draw cards.

The on-site commentators even said:

"If Daniel loses this hand, he will be in great pain."

The result was in the next second.

The river card was dealt:

9♦

Biao Ding successfully hit one of the only cards that could save him, completing his third consecutive doubling.

Negreanu suffers an emotional breakdown.

Faced with such a dramatic turn of events, even the experienced Negreanu could not hide his disappointment.

As soon as the river card fell, he blurted out:

"I really can't take it anymore."

He then looked at the spectator area and said:

"We're not finished yet, but we're practically done."

As it turned out, his judgment was correct.

The final blow ended the match.

After the break, Negreanu, with only 9 big blinds remaining, went all in:

K♦ 3♥

Biao Ding then said:

A♦ 7♣

Complete the call.

Flip the card:

A♠ J♥ 2♥

Biao Ding hit the top pair directly.

Negreanu said with a wry smile:

"You win every time you go all-in, I need a backdoor flush, a backdoor straight."

However, after the turn card 2♣ appeared, he had no chance of turning the tide.

Ultimately, this Canadian poker legend was forced to exit the competition.

Despite the defeat, he earned honors and won the first prize of the 2026 WSOP.

Despite missing out on a quarterfinal spot, Negreanu still secured his first prize at the 2026 WSOP thanks to this deep playoff run.

For Biao Ding, this match was undoubtedly one of the most classic one-on-one victories of his career.

From trailing 10-1 to completing a comeback, he demonstrated the composure and resilience of a top professional poker player.

This matchup is considered by many poker media outlets to be one of the most exciting matches of the 2026 WSOP so far.
