Kyle Bao Diep staged a stunning three-blind comeback at the GOP Olympia, while Wouter Beltz conquered the Demigod Challenge.

The Gods of Poker (GOP) Phnom Penh "Wandering Road" tournament continued its third day of competition at NagaWorld. Kyle Bao Diep staged a legendary comeback from just three big blinds down to win the GOP Olympia title and a $18,476 prize, becoming the focus of the day. The day also saw Wouter Beltz conquer the $12,600 Demigods Challenge, while Martijn Gerrits and Alfie Adam continued their hot streak, both adding more trophies to their series.

Kyle Bao Diep stages an epic comeback at NagaWorld Casino

Diep staged an incredible comeback in the opening event of the GOP Olympians – The Winding Road at Gods Poker Phnom Penh. The event attracted 294 entries, creating a total prize pool of $84,672. However, for a considerable period, Diep seemed unable to even reach the final table. At one point, he was left with only... 3 big blindsForced to fight for every chip, he managed to gradually recover his losses, eventually eliminating Mauricio Ott in 18th place. In a crucial three-way pot, he defeated pocket Js and AQ with pocket Kings, doubling his chip stack and severely damaging Day 1 leader Takuma Terada's chip lead.

As the tournament progressed, Joonhee Cho emerged as the biggest threat, having once secured a full house with KQ in a double takedown, defeating his opponent's pocket aces and holding nearly half the chips. However, Diep remained aggressive, first defeating Jounghun Kim's AQ with pocket 7s in a crucial showdown, and then pulling off a huge comeback against Terada. In that hand, Diep went all-in with J-10 and made a straight on the river, beating Terada's top pair of aces.

After Terada finished in third place, Diep, with a 2-to-1 chip lead, entered heads-up play against Cho. The match lasted only six hands. Diep's 98 suited outmaneuvered Cho's 86 unsuited, and although Cho hit a pair of sixes on the flop, Diep ultimately made a backdoor flush, winning the $18,476 prize.

"This is my first trophy in over a year! I feel fantastic. I was very lucky, played well, and had some good fortune."

This victory marks Diep's first WPT Cambodia title since winning at the same venue, NagaWorld Casino, in July 2024.

Wouter Beltz wins the first black gauntlet trophy in the series' highest buy-in event.

The Demigods Challenge, despite its small number of participants, was fiercely competitive, boasting the highest buy-in in the series at $12,600. Only three players paid this hefty entry fee, creating a total prize pool of $34,920. After Daniel Neilson's early exit, Beltz and Gustavo Silva Campos faced off in a winner-takes-all heads-up match. They quickly reached an ICM agreement, reserving $12,000 for the eventual champion, and then resumed their duel.

The match was decided almost immediately after the tournament resumed, with only two hands played. Beltz quickly gained a chip lead and snap-called Campos' bluff in the final hand. Beltz's pocket tens secured the victory, earning him the most prestigious black gauntlet trophy in the series to date.
