Poker player Britney was asked to leave the WSOP Hustler Casino Live broadcast after claiming her funds were legal and traceable and questioning the timing and consistency of the compliance review. The incident reflects Las Vegas's intensified crackdown on money laundering.
A poker player was kicked out of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) live broadcast by Hustler Casino and has since spoken out about the incident.
Britney, a well-known player in HCL high-stakes poker, released a lengthy statement on the X platform explaining the situation. In the statement, she refuted some allegations regarding the source of her funds and expressed frustration at being unable to win back her $100,000 loss.
This $100/$200 No-Limit Texas Hold'em game was held at the WSOP in Las Vegas, not at the usual Hustler Casino in Los Angeles. The live stream was going well—the game was exciting, and the atmosphere at the table was lively—until Britney mysteriously disappeared after a short break and never returned.
According to PokerNews, Britney's chips were removed due to compliance issues. She bought into cash games, and casinos are cracking down on the use of cash in high-stakes poker tournaments and cash games.
This high-stakes player was initially allowed to participate. She even obtained checks from another casino in Las Vegas and brought them back to the Paris casino at the casino's request. Britney was subsequently allowed to sit at the table but was later asked to leave the game, a decision she disputed.
Las Vegas anti-money laundering campaign
In her statement, Britney first addressed speculation about the source of her funds, stating that "some of the information circulating is inaccurate."
"The funds I used to buy games are legal, traceable, and documented as proof of winnings at the MGM casino not long ago," she wrote.
The Hustler Casino Live regular stated that she respects the casino's compliance procedures, and her issue wasn't compliance itself, but rather "the way, timing, clarity, and consistency of how this matter was handled." She went on to explain that she "followed the instructions given to her" before going on stage, which included obtaining a check from another casino in town.
"If there were compliance concerns, they should have been discovered before I was allowed to buy and invest—not after the game had already started," she argued.
Britney isn't the only player to encounter similar issues at the 2026 WSOP. Andrew Moreno attempted to buy into a high roller event with cash but was refused entry. This problem isn't specific to the WSOP, nor even to Paris casinos. It stems from a citywide crackdown on money laundering that began last year.
Neither Britney nor Moreno has been suspected of any wrongdoing. However, Las Vegas casinos are simply taking precautions to prevent money laundering, a long-standing and widespread problem in Las Vegas.
Last summer, casinos on the Las Vegas Strip agreed to stop exchanging chips from other casinos. For example, poker players can no longer exchange Aria chips for Venetian chips. Due to this anti-money laundering initiative, cases like Britney's have become increasingly common in Las Vegas.
Hustler Casino Live will host its annual "Million Dollar Game" on Friday night, but this time it will be held live at the WSOP. Players expected to participate include Michael "Texas Mike" Moncek, Alan Keating, and Martin Kabrhel, and no casino compliance issues are anticipated.
