Michael Mizrachi swept the PLO tournament, winning his ninth WSOP gold bracelet and $1.3 million in prize money. Michael Mizrachi won the $10,000 PLO Championship, earning his ninth WSOP gold bracelet and $1,350,203 in prize money, joining the seven-time nine-time champions.

At just 45 years old, Michael Mizrachi has already built a poker resume that rivals the game's top players. With over $30 million in career winnings, four Poker Players Championship titles, one WSOP Main Event victory, and recent induction into the Poker Hall of Fame, Mizrachi has cemented his place as one of the greatest players in the game's history.

However, "The Grinder" proved once again that his legendary career is far from over - he won the 2026 $10,000 Pot Limit Omaha Championship, earning his ninth WSOP gold bracelet and a $1,350,203 first-place prize.

Mizrachi has now joined a solo club of only seven other contestants—those who have won at least nine gold bracelets, tying with Benny Glaser (9), Johnny Moss (9), Doyle Brunson (10), Erik Seidel (10), Johnny Chan (10), Phil Ivey (11), and Phil Hellmuth (17).

The grinding will continue

In an interview with PokerNews shortly after her victory, Mizrachi recounted her journey to winning her ninth gold bracelet.

"Obviously, every gold bracelet is an amazing victory, winning four (Poker Players Tournament) events, and winning the Main Event is insane. But I'm getting a bit tired of winning the PPC. I need to do something different. So this year we're changing things up. I think I'll choose the PLO over the PPC now, just to add something different to my resume."

Despite his numerous accolades, Mizrachi has no plans to leave the poker table anytime soon. Instead, he has set his sights on pursuing Hellmuth's record of 17 gold bracelets as a personal goal.

"What I mean is, we have to catch up with Hellmuth, right? So that's the goal. We're chasing Hellmuth. We have a long way to go... I need two to three per year on average. So hopefully we can win one more this summer, and then a few more in the winter (in the Bahamas)."

With the main event just around the corner, Mizrachi says he's not yet focused on defending his title. Instead, as the name suggests, "The Grinder" plans to take a short break before diving into the $10k Slots Championship to continue his pursuit of another gold bracelet.

"My focus right now is on the high-low tournament. So we'll be buying in later tomorrow. For today, the plan is to relax, have fun, spend time with family and friends, and enjoy a nice dinner."

Mizrachi dominated the game from start to finish.

Starting late on Day 1 at Horseshoe against Paris Las Vegas, Mizrachi built an overwhelming lead and maintained it all the way to the final table. Jesse Lonis briefly held the top spot after eliminating Aaron Kupin to win a huge pot. However, just when Lonis seemed poised to pull away, Mizrachi fought back against "The Gorilla" in the tournament's biggest pot.

In this hand, Mizrachi called the pre-flop raise and Lonis' continuation bet, then went all-in with a pair of aces after Lonis fired a substantial barrel on the turn. The timing proved perfect—Lonis only applied pressure with second pair and a gutshot straight draw. Lonis called, putting Mizrachi at risk, but the river failed to improve his hand, giving Mizrachi a double-up and an overwhelming chip lead, which he immediately capitalized on.

“I think he made a great move,” Mizrachi said of Lonis. “But I might have been the wrong opponent. The Gorilla put a lot of pressure on me. I knew if I got eliminated, I would finish seventh. (If I folded) I knew I could climb up the rankings. But we don’t play to climb the rankings. We play to win. So I’ll take that opportunity against him.”

From there, Mizrachi quickly finished the final table, eliminating Toby Joyce, Lonis, Ian Matakis and Martin Zamani in a series of showdowns that were in his favor before the end of Day 3.

Entering day four, he held approximately 80% in chips against Michael Hahn and Zarvan Tumboli, and it seemed only a matter of time before "The Grinder" accomplished his mission. Unsurprisingly, Tumboli went all-in against Mizrachi in just a few hands, but the rising Indian star showed resilience—beating two pair with a flush on the turn to double up against Mizrachi.

Mizrachi continued to apply pressure and wear down Hahn and Tumboli, but both managed to double up again, after which Mizrachi eliminated Hahn in third place with an unimproved J.

Despite being significantly behind in chips, the heads-up match between Tumboli and Mizrachi proved to be a fierce contest – Tumboli won a cold hand of full house against full house, significantly narrowing the gap.

However, no matter how hard he tried, Tumboli couldn't overcome Mizrachi. After a back-and-forth battle, Mizrachi made a full house on the river, beating Tumboli's trips and taking a 5-1 chip lead. Shortly after, Tumboli managed to go all-in with an Ace against Mizrachi, just one card away from doubling up. But it didn't matter—Mizrachi hit a straight on the river, securing his ninth gold bracelet and adding another chapter to one of the most remarkable careers in poker history.
