Poker media veteran Mo Nuwwarah wins his second MSPT title, setting a new career high in prize money.

Former PokerNews reporter Mo Nuwwarah won the MSPT Illinois Poker State Championship, securing his second MSPT title and a career-high prize of $205,499. The event attracted 1,807 entries, with a total prize pool of $1,751,290.

The first MSPT (Major Series of Poker: The Tour) Main Event held in Illinois has concluded successfully. This MSPT Illinois Poker State Championship, with a buy-in of $1,110 and a guaranteed prize pool of $750,000, took place from August 4th to 9th at Rivers Casino Des Plaines. It attracted 1,807 entries and generated a total prize pool of $1,751,290, significantly exceeding the guaranteed amount.

Former PokerNews reporter Mo Nuwwarah ultimately won the title, his second MSPT championship, and earned a career-high $205,499 in prize money.

"It feels great," Nuwwarah told MSPT reporter Anthony Thompson after the match. "This year has been a rollercoaster, but so far it's been pretty good. More good luck than bad. I've lost a few times in heads-up matches before, so it's really great to win my second title."

In addition, Nuwwarah has secured a seat in the MSPT Champions Rock Poker Open (RRPO) worth $3,500, which will be held from November 18 to December 2 at Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida, with a guaranteed prize pool of $2,000,000.

MSPT Season 17 will continue, moving to JACK Cleveland Casino from August 18th to 23rd, followed by the Indiana Poker State Championship at Ameristar East Chicago from August 25th to 30th. The tournament will then travel to Missouri for the Ameristar Poker Open from September 1st to 7th, before returning to Las Vegas for the Nevada Poker State Championship at The Venetian from September 10th to 13th.
